    Default Unite! (Don't Fight)

    Unite! (Don't Fight)
    by Remnant on Sun Sep 27, 2009 6:44 pm

    It was once said that the greatest miracle Jesus ever performed was keeping twelve disciples together for three years.

    We now live in a time of great division. Our nation is divided, our homes are divided and our churches are divided.

    I believe the bible tells us that we are to unite as one body, one hope and one Lord. We can agree on everything if our everything is JESUS!

    Luke 11:17 Jesus said: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls.

    To divide the body of Christ is one of the devils greatest and most effective schemes. And it seems he is doing a pretty good job of it.

    We must not allow that to happen and they way to stop him is to unite or unify. The word Unity means as one, Jesus prayed for all believers to be united as one in:
    John 17:20-23

    20 I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will[a] believe in Me through their word;

    21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

    22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:

    23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

    Ask yourself, are we working together for the common cause in humility and love toward the brethren or getting sidetracked by arguing about something that does not unify the body and good for the whole.

    When Paul addressed the Corinthian church it was about division.
    1 Corinthians 1:10-17

    One of the most valuable lessons that Paul teaches is that division comes when we begin to follow man and to lean on our on understanding and not God.

    Unity comes through reconciliation and guidence of the Holy Spirit.

    He gives us gifts to edify and build up the body of Christ.

    Not to tear it down!

    We should work as a team.

    It is a joint effort.

    No man should ever be an island when it concerns the body of Christ.

    If We, who are the true church ,will come together in unity.

    With one purpose.

    The purpose is to spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. T

    The Love of God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

    Taking this gospel to the lost and dying world.

    This is the mission of the church!

    The methods might differ but they are not the purpose.

    We give the enemy enough ammunition as it is with our own sinful selves.

    We must make every effort to keep from getting sidetracked.

    If we are to stay on target and stay focused as one unit; then we must continue to abide and share His word.

    The bible gives us certain things that every believer can be united in and Paul writes of these in

    Ephesians 4:1-6

    1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,

    2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with long suffering, bearing with one another in love,

    3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

    4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;

    5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

    6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you[ all.

    A. One Lord!
    B. One Faith!
    C. One Baptism!
    D. One God!
    E. One Father of Us All!

    What every differences you have my brothers and sisters put them to one side and come together as one.

    Unite! (Don't Fight)

    Those are good words and a timely reminder. We MUST work together - edify, build up, lift up in prayer, love, correct with love, and help each other to remain focused on our mission. To sow and reap Jesus in those who God places in our lives.

    Remember Jesus' High Priestly Prayer

    John 17

    1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

    2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

    3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

    4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

    5And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

    6I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

    7Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

    8For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

    9I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

    10And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

    11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

    12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

    13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

    14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

    15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

    16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

    17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

    18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

    19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

    20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

    21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

    22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

    23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

    24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

    25O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

    26And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
