Default Should "Satan" or "Devil" be capitalized?

I don't like to capitalize them because it feels like I'm giving Satan power. But to be using the English language correctly, you have to, because it's a proper noun. It's like capitalizing Wal-Mart. What do you do, and why?

    I haven't decided myself, yet.

The King James Bible capitalizes the name Satan. Capitalizing gives him no power. Nor status. Nor respect. It is just what we do in English with a proper noun. Sometimes I do not bother capitalizing it. I just don't really care.

I capitalize Satan to emphasize that he's a real entity.

I guess by the rules opf grammar they should be capped, but I refuse to even cap muslim and islam.
In fact, I know of one board where you get yelled at for capping them, but the board owner lost someone in the towers on 9-11.

You are all correct. But I personally choose not to capitalize satan's name because I couldn't care less about English grammar rules on spiritual matters.

We give him no power by capitalizing his name. I just don't usually cap it or muslim or allah to purposefully DISrespect them. But, that's just me being cranky!
