Thought on 1 Thess. 5

I was reading this the other night and a phrase jumped off the page at me--verse 3: "For when they say "peace and safety!" and then a sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman."

I can only speak for myself but when reading this in the past, I always associated this with acts of war. However, in light of the financial landslide the world finds itself in this last few weeks, it was like I had my "aha!" moment with this verse. Could it possibly be referring to the financial disaster that has overtaken not only our country, but the world, leading us into the OWG?

We are Washington Mutual customers (yes, I know, can I get any dumber? :hyst Hopefully, that will soon change). The day after the JP Morgan takeover of WaMu happened, I called in my morning check on our bank account (since I don't have my computer, which I miss like my right arm!) and the recording went something like this (paraphrasing, but very close): "Welcome to WaMu! Now, backed by the STRENGTH AND SECURITY of JP Morgan, we are better than ever!" Like that was supposed to get me ramped up for impending disaster?

If you continue on with the rest of the chapter: "But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, ansd as a helmet the hope of salvation...."

Those at the helm of this financial disaster are clearly, by their words and actions, living of and for the dark, drunk with power and deceit. Barney Frank, who is an avowed homosexual that claimed he never knew his "boyfriend" was running a gay dating service out of his basement, Chris Dodd, who was receiving favoritism on home loans through Countrywide Mortgage, Nancy Pelosi, who is a champion gay pride marcher, Harry Reid, who just slithers his way through the hallowed halls of congress--these are dark and sinful people. There have been so many names of people throughout the last few weeks--the former head of Fannie Mae, who now is a FINANCIAL ADVISOR on Obama's campaign staff--just one example. They are all just literally scum of the earth.

The peace and safety mantra has been bandied about like a meaningless notion this last week. We are being lead to the pit by people that want to assure us they're in control, but they have caused this country to implode financially and set us up for the OWG. Peace and safety are a thin veil between destruction and disaster. As believers we know the ending of this book. We don't need to wait to see the movie. But watch and listen to your fellow man, in particular, the unbelievers. They are STARVING for SOMEONE to lead them to security. And whoever utters the words peace, safety, or security, are who they are going to move towards. Right now, the time for harvest won't be easy or particularly plentiful, but there are many that may come across your path that may enable you to plant a seed, and then let God water it.

I guess it is possible but I think it might be more so that everyone is pointing at the Republican's for causing this mess - when in reality it has its roots in Carter and Clinton and the Republicans have tried to get the rules fixed but met with Democratic road blocks - including Obama.

But because the sheeple are more than willing to pile the blame on the republicans because that is what the media is telling them, they will vote for Obama thinking he will make it okay.

Then, once Obama is in office, he will appear to fix everything - all over the world.
Islam is already calling him their savior.

I guess he could actually be the AC but time will tell.

Then, once Obama is in office, makes nice, puts a chicken in every pot, then Islam will drop their hammer of bow to Allah, take his mark, or you will die.

So the financial crisis could be the catalyst that begins the snowball. That is for sure.

But I think the verse you quoted is definitely more to do with our physical safety than financial one.
