In wake of tragedy, lawyers step in: Colorado shooting survivor plans suit, says publicist

Torrence Brown Jr., one of the Aurora movie shooting survivors, is planning on suing the theater, confirmed his family's publicist on Wednesday. "We're going to make sure whoever is accountable is going to take responsibility for this tragedy," Cassandra Williams of Wet PR said.
How typical. Whenever something bad happens go after anyone and everyone who can possibly be named in a law suit and get as much $$$ as you can. Surely somebody is insured and will settle for some hard cash and no trial. Lawyers that take these cases should be ashamed of themselves.

I think it has replaced Baseball as the great American pass-time.

The only negligence that I see, and hindsight is 20/20, is that there was no alarm on this exit door when it was propped open. Of course I don't even know if the exit doors in any theatre has an alarm on it during theatre hours. However, if I were a betting person, I would imagine that it will become a new city code stipulation.....or a case of only use in case of emergency....otherwise, don't use. What do I know, really.

It was a new theatre and it had to pass fire inspection before it could open, so I'm sure it was to specs.I can't see where anyone was negligent. However, it seems to me that their liability insurance should cover all medical bills as it is a 3rd party liability case. About trauma and mental anguish.....there will be nightmares for a long while for many, if not all involved. I cannot make an assessment as I am not qualified.

I have addressed the alarm issue in another thread. Alarms on those doors are disabled during business hours as they are used to exit to the side lots. Also, in a lot of theaures, those doors are hidden from the auditorium as to not disturb the people watching the show....no one wants a glaring light in the mddle of a show.....

I pray that the victims and the family's of victims do not sign up to be part of this lawsuit. The theater did nothing wrong. Everybody wants to look for somebody to blame, well blame a society that creates a monster such as this, blame satan for breeding such evil, blame the kid that did this, but do not look at an establishment that had no part in this murder plot, to shoulder this blame. To do so would be an abuse of the judicial system.
