I heard the first ever song that used the Lord's name in vain and the term SOB in a commercial. Some rum company. I hope this company, the station running it and the marketing company coming up with this "nifty marketing" idea crashes and burns.

It seems like nothing is "off limits" anymore...I'm becoming more and more disgusted with television every day.![]()
Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies.
Psalm 141:3-4
I was taking a light nap when it came on--it woke me up. First thought was I couldn't believe it, I must have been dreaming. It came on later during the program--and yep, though all the bagging music, it was in the lyrics. I still don't recall the name of the "rum". But it had a nautical theme to it--and tried to sell the idea if you drank this crap, you'd be as tough as the sailors were back in WW2--they even had a clip with an Iowa class battleship firing off. What a phony lie.
The worse part is it was aired during a Star Wars movie...which meant little kids were probably watching it. 40 years ago, they would have burned the station down for airing this.

It's called 'Sailor Jerry' rum. If the lyrics don't kill you, the rum will...it's 92 proof.
I was watching the same movie.
From a New York Times article
Sailor Jerry was the nickname of Norman Collins (1911-1973), who became known for his work tattooing sailors. In 1999, Quaker City Mercantile, then called Gyro Worldwide, introduced Sailor Jerry as a life style brand, which grew to include clothing and other merchandise, music and the spiced rum.
Sailor Jerry, sold by William Grant & Sons, began running television commercials over the weekend on cable channels that include Comedy Central, ESPN, Fox Movie Channel and Spike.
The commercials are being created by Quaker City Mercantile, an agency in Philadelphia, as part of a campaign that will include digital ads, social media, print ads and outdoor ads.
The fast-paced commercials feature snippets from a decade-old Sailor Jerry archive of concerts, events and documentaries. The spots — in versions that run 15 seconds, 30 seconds and two minutes — use on the soundtrack a high-energy punk rock song, “Where Eagles Dare,” recorded by the Misfits in 1979.

What!?! You're certainly not talking about the soft-core Victoria Secret commercials? Or how about all those supposed 'body image affirming' body lotion commercials that show full-figured women in bras and panties? Most assuredly you're not talking about the new dressing commercial that states that the product is 'cheating on salad' right?(i'm being sarcastic....commercials are now just as bad as the tv shows. I remember a time when people complained about the news being too graphic....how far we have fallen.

Well, it's not just commercials. I went in a store where the lady's 7 year old grand child was playing Grand Theft Auto on some game on a tv. The kid was driving a car and running over women and he stopped his car when a bicycle rider ran in front of him and got out with a baseball bat and a target appeared on the guys back and he beat the guy with the baseball bat. I could hardly believe this game. I told his grand mother and she had not looked at the content of the game. It's Terrible what kids are learning playing games and we wonder where young people are becoming more violent?
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
I'm 51 and the changes for the worse AND the pace at which they are happening are breathtaking. I keep reminding myself that they are like road signs you'd follow to an emergency room... help will soon be available! Come soon Lord Jesus.![]()

It is not just TV. We saw a billboard for jewelry. They were advertising engagement rings. It was very crude. Comparing stones in a ring to something else.

When my husband lost his job 18 months ago, we turned our satellite service off, and I don't miss it much at all. I do miss the nature and animal shows, tho. But as for the rest of the programming, no thank you! And I've never liked most commercials. There are a few that are cute--like the tire commercial where a man driving swerves to miss a squirrel, and all the other animals start yelling! We rent movies if we can find a decent one. It was strange at first not to watch TV, but we've grown accustomed to it. I wouldn't go back to it even if we were given free satellite service and digital TV.

People......the world is the world.....
If the world wouldn't be the cesspool it is then the world would cease to be the world.....I do not say it is right what they say or do....but the world is just that THE WORLD....a anti God anti Christ system that is sinking into Hell......just wait when the rapture takes place what will come...the Tribulation and then the Great Tribulation......I would worry more on the apostasy in the church which is rampant and anti Isreal too....just my opinion....![]()
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is all about being the best; the best criminal that is. The more times you break the law the higher your score gets. The last time I watched someone playing the game the more crimes one committed the more stars you would get. This relates to the game in bringing more and more and different types of law enforcement onto the scene. It starts with police, and goes all the wat up to the national guard. One can also solicit prostitutes, and you do get more money and a higher score for running people down with your vehicle. Nothing like a little vehicular homicide to top things off. Truthfully I miss the old video games, such as pac-man. TV seems to have gone from bad to worse, and that is just public TV. And never mind cable TV.

What about the original? Pong! I remember when we thought that was a big deal.
As far as TV goes, we "live" where our business is, literally. So our only entertainment is TV, and our interests run toward sports, primarily baseball But, we use DVR and watch everything on a delayed basis so the upside is we fast forward through commercials. It's is amazing how much time can be wasted suffering through those stupid things.
But Roberto is right, "The world is the world". And we're just passing through.![]()
Ephesians 5:18 (New King James Version)
18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
I Come To The Garden Alone Hymn
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
