    Default Dick Clark Dead at 82

    Dick Clark died earlier today. The famed TV producer was 82.

    Paul Shefrin, a rep for the entertainment legend, told ABC News his client suffered a "massive heart attack."
    According to TMZ, Clark was at St. John’s hospital in Los Angeles for an outpatient procedure when the heart
    attack occurred. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

    Makes me sad. I enjoyed his performances over the years. I had some folks who thought he was drunk when he had been performing as of late until this happened. I had to explain to them that he had a stroke.

    Me and my girlfriend still watch reruns on the game show network of the $25,000 pyramid.. sad to hear of his death.

    The thing is, none of the fame or fortune etc acquired - NOTHING, matters but one thing now - and that is whether or not he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. I sincerely hope he did.

    Many a New Year's eve I spent watching him on TV. A lot of fond memories from childhood of my two older sisters watching American Bandstand. A certain irony that he and Don Cornelius of Soul Train fame would both pass within a few months of each other. I hope they are both at peace tonight.

    I do not know whether Dick Clark was a Christian. But as I watched the outpouring of adulation yesterday and today for Dick Clark and his outstanding career (yes, I used to watch his shows, starting with American Bandstand), a song kept going though my head— I'd Rather Have Jesus than Silver or Gold. The second verse reads:

    "I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
    I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
    I’d rather be true to His holy name."

    If a man or woman can achieve worldly success while being faithful and true to Jesus Christ and while proclaiming His cause, then that is wonderful. Otherwise I hear Jesus as the apostle Mark heard Him: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36) I hope that Mr. Clark was a Christian and that even now he is at the feet of Jesus (where he will be far lower in the Kingdom of God than he was in the kingdom of man.) But if he wasn't, then while the world adores his memory that will eventually fade, he is screaming in utter darkness that will never end.

    How serious is the commission we have been given to proclaim Jesus Christ to every man, woman and child!

    Amen.
    I watched AB as a kid & I have fond memories of Dick Clark. I know he accumulated great wealth here on earth but those things are gone now if he didn't know the Lord. I hope he did.

    I also have fond memories of Dick Clark, after his stroke it was painful to watch him struggle through his short appearances on New Year's Eve. The first thing I thought of when I heard of his passing was that I hoped he was a believer.... just a few years ago that thought might not have even occured to me at all.

    People use the expression 'you can't take it with you' as justification for a lavish existance now....but instead we are supposed to store our treasures in heaven, where they can't be stolen, and they will be with us for eternity. We are supposed to be mindful of not what we have done for the world, but what we have done for the Kingdom.

    I decided to search for any evidence of Dick Clark professing to be a Christian and found only one small part of an interview where he said " when it's my time to go, I hope God says come up here" or something to that effect. It's at the 15 minute part of this interview. I am not saying he was or was not a Christian, I hope he was and it was simply not reported.

    Also the family has decided not to have a funeral.

    If you have come to this message from a search engine and are not saved you should ponder this fact, when you die, will you leave evidence that you were a Christian? While you are alive now, do you Bless your food in public and home? Are you a secret Christian, the only one who knows is you? If so, you still have time to make things right, open your heart to Jesus, confess your sins and be born again, join this forum and we will be witnesses that will convict you of being a Christian

    I found this today, I hope that Dick is in Heaven. Pat Boone remembers Dick Clark as friend

    BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - 1950s pop star Pat Boone says he helped Dick Clark launch "American Bandstand," and looks forward to seeing his old friend in heaven someday.

    Boone says he was stunned to hear of Clark's death at the age of 82, recalling their appearance together on the TV show's first national broadcast more than 50 years ago.P

    Pat Boone says he'll remember Clark as a personal friend and "anchor of all things musical" who helped launch many careers.

    Boone, an evangelical Christian, says he gave books about his spiritual journey to Dick Clark, who responded that he appreciated and identified with them. For that reason, Boone says, "I expect to see him again, and we'll enjoy some heavenly music together."

    Steve,
    Thanks for this post, I always liked Dick Clark and would like to see more posts like yours that show others saying what Pat Boone said, I hope Pat Boone is right and we see Dick Clark in Heaven when we get there.

    Steve, like our brother billy, I pray Pat Boone is correct about Mr. Clark.

    In any case, as I said above, the very idea that he could be suffering in eternal torment right now is sobering and again drives home the importance of the Great Commission Jesus Christ has given us ... the one we will each have to account for one day.

    I agree, Mattfivefour, and Billym, you're right on, our testimony should be so clear that people don't have to search for or wonder about it.

    Dick Clark once said, “I’m not an overly religious man but I believe in God. I figure He will tell me to quit by taking me away. That’ll be the day I’m either too sick or I drop dead in my tracks. I don’t want to stop. I’m having too much fun?"
