5 students shot in Cardon Ohio high school

CHARDON, Ohio -- Five students have been injured in a shooting this morning at Chardon High School.

According to the Geauga County Sheriff's Office and the FBI, a suspect has been arrested. Scott Wilson of the FBI said they believe there was only one shooter, but the incident remains under investigation.

Initial reports were that four students were shot. But at a news conference about 10:30 a.m., officials said there was a fifth victim.

I was getting ready to make a post about this and just wanted to point out something about it. I think it is a shame what this world has come to, first of all that this kind of thing happens at all. Secondly, I remember even just maybe as little as 5 years ago when something like this would have made front page news and been the talk of everyone. Now, in the link I was going to post it shows up as the fourth story underneath the following headlines:

and finally after this is the story about the shooting. It really is a shame that our society has come to the point that something like this is barely even news any more. It just goes to show how bad society has gotten. Come quickly Lord Jesus, come!

I fear for the safety of my own kids every time I send them to school. Praying for all involved in this tragedy.

We've taken God and the 10 commandments out of school and trying to in the overall culture.

We're witnessing the fruits of the labors of atheists, pagans, perverts and general psychopaths who we've permitted to reign. But this is much better than that "mean, old" Christianity.

While these events are emotionally disturbing, it is not that shocking given the state of our society--we're reaping what we've allowed, as a nation, to be sown.

Pray for the families of this school and victims--not to mention repentance of the nation. This is truly a sickening affair.

We live in a broken society, with broken homes and broken families that send their broken children to a broken school. There is just no way to avoid these things unless we live reclusive and close ourselves off from the rest of the world.

Unfortunately, our light will only shine enough to light up the rooms we dwell in and can only be seen by people that we spend time with. So in order to live as a Christian, outloud, we have to go out and we have to send our Christian children out into the world also.

Even though I know the above to be true, my heart aches so badly for these families. It's just so hard to understand why so much evil is allowed reign, but we must keep our faith and keep doing what God has asked us to do.

I pray that the young man that died knew Christ. I pray the shooter is given the opportunity to find Christ.

I was relieved when my son finished school. We live in a town of 15 thousand people, and it seemed like there were bomb threats every other month or so. That's absurd for a town this small.

I think smaller towns have it worse than a big city, especially for this kind of thing. Kids can't escape the bullies, they follow someone from school to school as they grow....and no one forgets any stupid mistakes a person might have made when they were younger.

In Detroit a 6 year old shot and killed by drive bys. Last night a 37 year old mother murdered by her 11 year old son because they had a fight the night before. God is not taught in schools or in a lot of homes. How can this be when 70% + claim to be Christian??

I know a pastor who's adopted son, adopted when about 7 or 8, who is now 16 is more interested in games and porn than in God. He just blanks out. His parents were into drugs and booze. If children are not exposed to parents whose God is real in their lives all day every day the children are lost to God. If parents don't demonstrate that a Godly life is different and better then the children don't see it. That is why these modern churches are going to prove a failure.

These are the large decisions of life that we are supposed to be willing to make for Christ, but what about the small things too? My son and I were at a post office to get some stamps. I was waiting for another man to finish buying stamps from a vending machine. He fiddled with the levers and the coin return and nothing happened. I finally talked to him and told him that the machine was a $3 machine not a $1 machine. Then he put the correct amount in and got his stamps. My son said to me, "Dad I knew that you weren't going to be silent and save yourself a dollar from that man's mistake." We have to live our whole lives in front of our children and friends and the world just like that. They have to know that our faith is real and our lives or we are hypocrites.

I am not saying anything to take away from the crime that was committed. The young fella has shot and killed three fellow students. The student that did the shooting is also a victim from what I have picked up. Rotten and abusive home life. Bullied at school.

Lord forgive us as a society for our failures and neglect. We are like the person that put bars on all his doors and windows to prevent theft. Then when our house catches fire we are trapped by those bars. Lord only You can change our society for the good. Lord forgive us and change us.

Remember when that guy, maybe four or five years ago, walked into an Amish school and shot and killed like five little girls (I think 10 were wounded, but five died). I think this was in rural Ohio.

This shooter has mixed reports of whether bullying played a part in this case. Apparently his father was violent as well.
