Default Supposedly, Obama to announce today he is changing his mind on BC rule for Religious Hospitals.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama will announce a plan to accommodate religious employers outraged by a rule that would require them to cover birth control for women free of charge, according to a person familiar with the decision. Obama was expected to make the announcement at the White House Friday.
The shift is aimed at containing the political firestorm that erupted after Obama announced in January that religious-affiliated employers had to cover birth control as preventative care for women. Churches and houses of worship were exempt, but all other affiliated organizations were ordered to comply by Aug. 2013.
Republican leaders and religious groups, especially Roman Catholics, responded with intense outrage, saying the requirement would force them to violate church teachings and long-held beliefs against contraception.
The issue also pushed social issues to the forefront in an election year that had been dominated by the economy. Abortion, contraception and any of the requirements of Obama's health care overhaul law have the potential to galvanize the Republicans' conservative base, critical to voter turnout in the presidential and congressional races.
Republicans vowed to reverse the president's policy, with House Speaker John Boehner accusing the administration of violating First Amendment rights and undermining some of the country's most vital institutions, such as Catholic charities, schools and hospitals.
The measure also sparked an internal debate at the White House. Vice President Joe Biden, then-chief of staff Bill Daley and deputy national security adviser Denis McDonough, all Catholics, raised concerns about how the administration proceeded on the policy. On the other side, senior White House advisers Nancy-Ann DeParle, Pete Rouse and David Plouffe argued for the need to ensure coverage for all without exception, as a matter of women's health and fairness.
The person with knowledge of Obama's decision requested anonymity in order to speak in advance of the official announcement.

How and if only time will tell. But you can be assured of this:

    1) It is a political move
    2) He is probably running scared because of the Public's reaction to supporting Santorum who vows to stand against this.

    I do not trust him.

If Santorum continues to gain in the Republican race, you bet your bottom dollar that Obama's team will start really running scared. They believe they can handle Romney ... and Newt. But they know Santorum will be a lot harder to nail.

Obama and his administration made a real political blunder with this and are now backpedaling. He doesn't want to lose the Catholic vote. I only say the Catholic vote, because I believe he accepts that he doesn't have the support of many conservative Christians and probably doesn't care. It's another example of his and the liberals poor judgement. If he makes enough of these, it will give the GOP some good arguments to give to the voters, especially the independents who may decide the election. Santorum, who some say is big government, can reach out to the independents and the dissatisfied, more centrist, democrats. Gingrich says that he's the only one with a plan for big change. I don't know how well that will play with the voters. The scary thing, as has been mentioned by someone else here on the Forum, is that if Obama gets a second term and we don't have majorities in both houses, there will be big, bold, and bad changes coming, and I wouldn't be surprised if this issue comes back.

I agree and I like how Santorum has been speaking lately. It would be nice if Obama supporters would have their eyes opened not only to what he is doing but what the liberal news media is hiding from them so they can not see his true nature.

Default Obama shift seeks to defuse birth-control fight

By Stephanie Simon and Caren Bohan
    Fri Feb 10, 2012

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama, in an abrupt policy shift aimed at quelling an election-year
firestorm, announced on Friday that religious employers would not be required to offer free birth
control to workers and that the onus would instead be put on insurers.

The compromise sought to accommodate religious organizations, such as Catholic hospitals and universities,
outraged by a new rule that would have required them to offer free contraceptive coverage to women employees.

Notice the words "Election Year Firestorm" He certainly has no repentant attitude we can be sure of that. But I am glad ,"for the time-being" it is lifted, some what. (keep praying)

I read the article - there is still a dead fish in the air.

I knew there was still a stench in the air:

The revised Obama mandate will make religious groups contract with insurers to offer birth control and the potentially abortion-causing drugs to women at no cost. The revised mandate will have religious employers refer women to their insurance company for coverage that still violates their moral and religious beliefs. Under this plan, every insurance company will be obligated to provide coverage at no cost.

Essentially, religious groups will still be mandated to offer plans that cover both birth control and the ella abortion drug

According to Obama administration officials on a conference call this morning, a woman’s insurance company “will be required to reach out directly and offer her contraceptive care free of charge. The religious institutions will not have to pay for it.”
The birth control and abortion-causing drugs will simply be “part of the bundle of services that all insurance companies are required to offer,” White House officials said.

Stench in the air, indeed! This can be turned around. Obama, and his equally blind and arrogant team need to be defeated at election time.
This plan may be part of the undoing of the democrat's control.

So in reality nothing changed, they still have to offer it as mandated by their insurance company that is mandated by the government....

If these people believe Obama will just forget about this they are sadly mistaken. He may let it go for now, but if he is elected again you can bet he will put this on the agenda again and then what will they do? They won't have an election to scare them with again. Anyone who votes for Obama and company deserve everything they get.

This president has been the most arrogant of my lifetime. I get a sad, hollow feeling inside when I contemplate that his reelection may be a judgement on America. In his first term he has flouted rules and convention and has done so with impunity. Imagine his second term when he has no restraints from a need to be reelected again.

President Obama has no constitutional authority to do this anyway.

    Constitutional Powers of the President
The powers and duties of the president are outlined in Article II of the Constitution. Although the Constitution grants far fewer explicit powers to the president in Article II than it does to Congress in Article I, the ambiguity and vagueness of Article II have made it possible for presidents to expand their authority greatly beyond that specifically listed in the Constitution.

The two passages in the Constitution that have provided the basis for the expansion of presidential authority are Article II, Section 1, which grants “the executive Power” to the president, and Section 3, which makes the president responsible for the enforcement of federal laws: “he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.”

obaMao says this to get everyone to stand down. Its like when Pelosi was selling that "Obamacare just didn't have the votes". Over and over this was the mantra. 60 days later when all the groups had been pretty much disbanded, viola! It passed. All designed to get you to stand down, slip it thru when they know it takes time to get re-organized.

What's behind this is the New Age agenda to put controllers (or continue the process of controlling) on the population count. It's the 'save the earth' plan....which of course is satan's way of trying to thwart God's desire for many people to be born...and thus saved.

Even so...God has His ways of making His will be done.
