As soon as I read the title, I thought,"PETA." If you go to their web site you'll find, what at first seems to be, a convincing argument for moving away from meat to a vegan diet, but that's only what's on the surface. If you dig deeper, you find a very radical and contradictory organization. On one hand they say that you should have compassion for animals, when according to websites such as
Peta Kills Animals, they have killed on average 85.9% of the animals they have taken in, from 1989-2010. From 2006-2010, the average is much higher. They stand on their soapbox and preach for compassion towards animals and against the exploitation of our fellow animals(we are animals according to PETA), and at the same time they are planning on launching a porn website. It's not right to exploit animals, but it's okay to exploit humans. When you look at the PETA website, and you click on ABOUT PETA, you'll find a message from the President, Ingrid E. Newkirk. In a brief message she mentions one book and one person, the book is "Animal Liberation," and its author is a Dr. Singer. Ingrid is quite impressed with Dr. Singer. For more information on Peter Singer's
very radical viewpoints, one has only to search the web. In my opinion, if we left it up to PETA to have their way, we would all be eating a genetically modified vegan diet, there would be no more zoos or pets, no leather or wool for clothing or anything else,
but abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, and assisted suicide would be allowed. I do believe that we are to be good stewards of God's creation which includes not abusing animals, but in my opinion, PETA takes the definition of "abuse" and their supposed defense of animals to a place where we definitely don't want to go.
