I'll tell you that living for more than two years in Canada has turned Vicki's thinking around. She gets all the tests she needs, doesn't have to wait, and no medical treatment is refused. And for all of the medical care we have needed ... including a trip by ambulance, medical scans, and a stay in hospital, plus visits to specialists we have not had to fork out one red cent. It is all covered. We pay for it through our income tax and through our sales tax. Our total income and sales taxation runs about 32 percent. The equivalent total US taxes would be about 29-1/2 percent. That extra 2-1/2 percent we pay in taxes eliminates all worries about paying for medical care. It will always be there when we need it and even if we wind up spending months in hospital and having cardiac or brain surgery, or needing ongoing cancer treatment, we will never have to mortgage our house (or lose it) because of medical bills. We just won't have any.

Maybe we can send BO to Canada to learn how it should be done. If he wants to stay there, that's ok too.

Ha! I'm thinking Obama will get around to invading Canada at some point! Everywhere seems to be fair game with him! He doesn't even need Congressional approval these days.

If our gov't wanted to really do something about health care, they would have repealed the The McCarran–Ferguson Act--which gives insurance companies protection of any anti-trust claims. This is why they can price fix, collude and why you see only a hand full of carriers in each state. There's no competition of pricing nor services. If this were open to the free market, in five years they'd probably be giving out coupons for free vasectomies and clock radios.

Open it up to the free market and there would be a world of difference. But DC isn't about to give up its gravy train. They want a select hand full of providers nationwide. But the intent is to dictate, control and tax the individual--which serves them just fine. It doesn't have a thing to do with "health care". That's just the ruse.
