Wouldn't put too much faith in predictions like these. They predicted the harshest winter in a century a few months ago, not even been close to freezing point once. It's scientifically nearly impossible to make weather predictions over such periods of time.

I thought 2 prophets were not going to let it rain there for 3 years, that's where my prediction came from since I think we are close to 7 year tribulation.

Who knows they could be correct?

We will have to wait and see.

That's a pretty interesting graphic paul&katie. The weather is surely getting more outrageous with each passing year.

We have had one snowfall before Christmas and was only a couple inches. Tonight we can get up to 6 inches. I live in Iowa and this is very unusal to have so little snow. The weather is definelty of the extreme nature anymore.

From what I have seen of late, we're in the midst of a transition from the La Nina weather phenomenon to the El Nino weather phenomenon. These things are likely driven by our Sun. It's mid-January and were still waiting for Old Man Winter to arrive here on the Mid-Atlantic coast. Personally I hope he's late or doesn't show up at all ... makes for great winter golf conditions which will prime my game for better weather coming in spring/summer 2012.

I believe that is correct. I'll have to check again but I'm pretty sure that El Nino weather was predicted. (I want to say it was in the farmers almanac, but I'm not 100%).

Whatever weather pattern will bring cooler temperatures to North Texas this summer, I'm all for it!! I've had enough of having my feelers singed off, thank you very much.

I still stay in touch with my former career. Weather trends are essential in the wildfire biz. Just like hurricane prediction services many models are used and the mean is used as the best guess.

    Here is one of them:

I too would have to say; it the temp would stay on the warm side, would not upset me at all. But, today's his is supposed to be in the mid 50's, with tonight's low down in the high 20's. Oh, tomorrow will NOT be a good day at work. Well, that's not ture. Will still be a good day, I'll just be frozen. YUCK!

For the last year we did not have much rain here and lately we have received some good rains but the wind today is supposed to be 30 to 35 miles. Last year was very windy and it looks like this year will also be a windy year. One thing is for sure 2011 year was difficult for many and 2012 looks like a year everyone will remember. I just hope it's a short year for Christians if you know what I mean....:)

I don't know if this is relevant, or significant, but I have dogs who are shedding their winter coats already. This doesn't usually happen until early summer. Their health is fine. But I can't understand why this is happening so early in the year. My oldest dog is 9 years old, and this is the first time this has happened--in January no less. We live in the mid west, and we've had a very mild winter so far. Very strange indeed!

Really now? Remember right after Katrina they predicted like 'thousands of hurricanes' the next season? Hardly got a brisk breeze.

I remember in the early 70s in school, they told us by the year 2000 we'd be in a major ice age and we'd all be cannibals.

They predicted just a week ago on this Thursday it would be near 70 degrees and sunny. It's been raining cats and dogs and about 40.

They can't even get a one week prediction right--and they're gonna tell us how the long term future is gonna shake out? Please!

I live in the Mountains of Western North Carolina and the last 2 winters have been very cold and snowy but this one has been extremely mild so far. It has been wet but mostly rain. We are seeing flowers beginning to bloom already. I don't mind it being 25 degrees warmer than it is supposed to be this time of year but I worry if this happens in Summer. 25 degrees on top of normal 90ish degree weather would be deadly.

According to the TV weather talking heads--in 1943, we had record breaking 70 degree temperate during this day. In 1862, there was at least one day of frost each day of every summer month in Kentucky--destroying any potential decent harvest in the fall.

Weather is and always has been (since the 'falling') cyclical.

Well I don't know if this is significant either BUT the Louisiana strawberries are coming in very early. I bought a pint yesterday and they were beautiful, sweet and delicious!
It's been in the 70's and 80's for a week.
