Bible Teacher Confesses He Was Wrong to Predict Christ's Return; Says God Has Not Stopped Saving People

With his speech sounding somewhat slurred and labored, Family Radio Stations Inc. founder and chairman Harold Camping sought to address in a recent message why Christ failed to return on Oct. 21 as the Bible teacher had predicted. Camping confessed, after decades of falsely misleading his followers, that he was wrong and regrets his misdeeds.

In addition to attempting to correct his erroneous teachings on the Rapture and God's day of final judgment on the world, Camping, 90, also confessed, "incidentally," that he was wrong to claim that God had stopped saving people after May 21 – the date which God's so-called "spiritual" judgment had begun.

This is undoubtedly a radical shift for Camping, who has staunchly claimed since 1992 that he had discovered a special numerical system in the Bible that allowed him to calculate the exact dates of certain events, such as the Great Flood, the Crucifixion and the day of Jesus Christ's return to Earth.

Camping first falsely predicted that the world would end on Sept. 6, 1994, then again on May 21, 2011, and finally on Oct. 21.

When Camping's final doomsday predication failed to come to pass, Family Radio soon removed its teachings regarding the failed May 21 rapture, which also included the claim that God had stopped saving people after that date and that the world was headed for a final judgment on Oct. 21.

On Oct. 24, 2011, The Christian Post also reported in an exclusive interview with a member of Camping's Bible ministry that the Alameda, Calif., Bible teacher was no longer able to lead Family Radio or his ministry.

It's hard for me to accept this apology as sincere. The first time he predicted a Rapture date was back in the 1990s and this October date is now the third time he did so.

Maybe he realised that fool me once shame on me fool me twice and three times shame on you!

In the end only God knows this man's heart. For now he has totally shot his credibility down, torn it to shreds and he should remove himself completely from any preaching and teaching and humble himself further. To remain in a leadership role after this apology only makes it look to me as a necessity to keep his position.

I would not be surprised if Mr. Camping invents yet another date. He said,

“I am very encouraged by letters that I have received concerning this matter,” he says, “Amongst other things, I have been checking my own notes more carefully than ever. And I do find that there is other language in the Bible that we still have to look at very carefully.”

“In the past my math was off because I missed some small particularities,”. “However, I was speaking with Deacon Bradely Hansford and he started talking about the Book of Acts and I had to stop him, I hadn’t heard of this book. Brad pointed it out to me and then flipping through his Bible I found that I hadn’t included Matthew or Luke. In fact, frankly I think I somehow missed most of the New Testament.”

Now Camping said this in May of this year. Is he expecting us to believe that he had been a Christian right up until his 90th year and did not even know the bible contained the Book of Acts??? come one! This is more incredible than his Rapture predictions. There are only two possibilities I can think of: 1) he really does not know his Bible at all and has never read through it in his entire life, nor ever been taught anything about it; or 2) he really thinks people are stupid and gullible and figures they'll buy even the most moronic statements from him.

Yeah, he's too old to play that, "I didn't know" game. I do hope he has fully repented (the best thing Camping could do to honor God is to say that he was wrong and he needs to repent....for real), and I pray for those who were duped that God will give them understanding and guidance. That they will embrace the truth.

He probably misheard and thought the Deacon said "Book of Axes" and thought people were gonna start coming after him and his head for his big pile of buffalo chips he's thrown on Christianity with his false teachings.

I pray Mr camping is sincere in repentance and actually takes the time to read the book And I do pray he knows Jesus as his personal Lord and savior . Even Mr Camping can be saved and his faults looked beyond in the eyes of our Lord and savior
