I was going to say "unbelievable" but I am afraid it is totally believable. I think government bureaucracies should adopt an umbrella name: Stupidity'R'Us.

This story is local to our satellite media market (3 hours south) and has received a lot of attention. If the guy gets squeezed,even though he has an IRS letter that says his taxes are paid up, I'd love to see him pay it in pennies.

It's crazy how people are like that. I remember my boss overpayed someone only a few cents on their check one time and demanded to have that money back.

I think more than anything this case is going to be used to try to start the intimidation process. We know that they IRS is hiring 5,000 more people to start going after US citizens. That's been reported. I think they go overboard with silly little things like this as a show of force, that they're SERIOUS about being mob-run guidos that will make sure you sleep with the fishes if you don't pony up your four cents.

The thing is, remember that the "enforcement arm" of Washington's intended Socialism Bill -- er -- I mean, "Health Care Reform" (cough, cough) will be the IRS, if you choose to not purchase the MANDATORY "insurance" in the bill...
