'US Demands Israel Cancel Ramat Shlomo Construction Plans'

(IsraelNN.com) The United States administration has presented Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu with a set of demands, including cancellation of the construction of 1,600 housing units in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo, Channel 2 reported Sunday night. According to the report, which is quoted by Maariv/NRG, Clinton told Netanyahu to cancel the housing project that passed a bureaucratic hurdle just as Vice President Joe Biden visited Israel, causing an emotional response from the United States.

She also demanded that Israel carry out a “meaningful gesture” toward the Palestinian Authority chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, before the Special US Envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchel, visits the region on Friday. Reporters said the gesture Clinton was referring to was probably a release of terrorist prisoners. A third demand made by Clinton was that Israel declare that the negotiations with the PA will include all of the “core issues” that are in dispute between Israel and the PA, and that the talks will not just be technical ones.

I agree with Hillary: Israel, by all rights, SHOULD carry out a "meaningful gesture", and not only towards the Palestinian Authority Chairman, but to Hillary herself, along with the rest of those in Washington who think along similar lines.

Unfortunately, the "meaningful gesture" is probably one that neither Hillary, the PA nor the rest of Washington would appreciate.

Just for giggles last night, I rented 2012. Absolutely PITIFUL, but funny. Imagine, a Hugo Chavez loving Marxist in the White House----oh, wait, we already have one!

That said, I cannot help but imagine that the destruction that was portrayed in the film would be played out at the end of the tribulation when Christ sets up His kingdom on earth. But it was also, for me, a foretaste of what is in store for the US if this group of boneheads doesn't shut up and get out of Israel's face.

I can't believe how quickly the world as a whole is turning on Israel over this. I knew it would eventually happen, but I didn't think this housing settlement would be the starting point. When was the last time the US displayed an opposition towards Israel? Even Egypt (I guess you can call them Israel's closest Arab ally) cancelled a re-opening ceremony of a Synagogue in Cario to show their opposition on Israel's actions.

Anyone interfering with Israel's efforts to reclaim their Promised Land will have to answer for it eventually.

I cannot add much except I agree with everyone's sentiment here that the US needs to quit talking down to the only democracy in the region and one of our closest allies!
