Ya know, I hear lots and lots of people say this as well, especially from Roman Catholic in-laws , and I've never quite had the most correct response to answer this question - until recently.

I was reading about angels, their abilities and inabilities. Lucifer is a fallen angel, and as suchstill has the same abilities and inabilities of an angel.

An angel cannot be in two places at the same time.

They are not omnipresent as is our Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

So what we are all having to deali with are legions of fallen angels - male and female demonic spirits - and not their leader Lucifer per se.

So in contending with this in our daily lives all we need do is as our Lord has instructed us to do in order to send them fleeing from our presence - PRAY.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it."

Actually, according to Ezekiel 28, Lucifer is a Cherub. A Cherub is a Guardian. Cherubim is plural, as in Guardians, and Lucifer is only a single created being. Saying Cherubim is reference to the two angels atop the Ark of the Covenant who cover the mercy seat with their wings. They're Guardians of God's mercy seat.

Actually Satan is a cherub ... not cherubim ... since there's only one of him (cherubim is the plural of cherub). But he is also an angel since "angel" is the collective term used in the Bible to describe spirit beings who have great power and were created to serve God. Cherubim, seraphim, and archangels are all classed as angels (Hebrew: malach'av; Greek: angeloi). Incidentally, rabbinical and RCC myths notwithsatnding, only three angels are named in Scripture: Lucifer, Michael, and Gabriel.
