This is the first I had heard that Biafra was set up as a Christian state. I remember the entire Biafran debacle quite clearly. It's founder, Lt. Colonel Chukuemerka Odumegwu Ojukwu, was a socialist. His "little green book" patterned on Chairman Mao's "little red book" was a socialist, humanist manifesto. Biafran leaders also claimed to espouse the non-violent philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Now admittedly the vast majority of Biafrans were Christians (at least nominally) but to suggest that the Nigerian Civil War occasioned by the secession of the Ibo into the eastern state of Biafra was the result of a desire to set up a Christian nation is a novel concept to me. I am aware that some fundamentalist groups have seen the event that way (certainly in recent years) and the members of MOSSAB (the still existent Biafran Government in Exile) have done much to capitalize on it as a Christian movement, but the factors that led to the secession and the creation of Biafra were far, far more complex than that. Arguably religion was a sidebar to the main issues. And in fact support for Biafra from world and African nations did not split evenly along Christian lines either.

Internet video: Muslims must rise up in Nigeria

LAGOS, Nigeria – A video posted on a militant Web site calls for Muslims in Nigeria to use "the sword and the spear" to rise up against Christians in Africa's most populous nation, according to a translation released Tuesday by a U.S. group that monitors militant sites.

The video on the Ansar al-Mujahideen forum, a Web site sympathetic to al-Qaida, comes in the wake of a series of religious massacres and riots in central Nigeria.

The video shows television news footage and graphic images of those killed as a narrator tells viewers "the solution is jihad in the cause of Allah," according to a translation provided by the SITE Intelligence Group.

"Negotiations, dialogues and protests will not stop the advancement of the enemies and their massacres," the narrator says. "Nothing will stop them but the sword and the spear."

The narrator also says the "crusader West" is interested in Nigeria for its abundant oil reserves. He refers to President Umaru Yar'Adua, a Muslim from northern Nigeria, as a "tyrant" who allowed the killing of a sect leader whose group's attacks on police stations and rioting left more than 700 people dead in July.

Nigeria's military ended fighting led by the group, known as Boko Haram, after seizing its leader. The group's name means "Western education is sacrilege" in the local Hausa language. The group's leader was later killed, and the army and police gave differing accounts of his capture that suggested that he may have died while in police custody.

The release of the 10-minute video comes after more than 200 people — mostly Christians — died last week in massacres in villages outside of the central Nigerian city of Jos. More than 300 people — mostly Muslims — died in January during rioting in the same region.

Nigeria, a country of 150 million people, is split almost evenly between Christians in its south and Muslim in its north. However, the nation has yet to see an al-Qaida-inspired terror group take hold inside its borders — despite others beginning to thrive in West Africa.

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi said nothing would stop Nigeria's ethnic violence except splitting the nation into Muslim and Christian states, Libya's official news agency reported Tuesday. Gadhafi told a group of African student leaders in Tripoli that the violence in Nigeria is a "deep-rooted conflict of a religious nature" that requires a radical solution.

In May 2003, Osama bin Laden purportedly urged Muslims in the country to rise up against one of the "regimes who are slaves of America."

Security forces claimed to break up such a linked terror cell in November 2007. Last year, a 23-year-old Nigerian who later claimed ties to al-Qaida attempted to detonate an explosive abroad a Christmas Day flight headed via Amsterdam to Detroit.

NIGERIAN MUSLIMS kill 12 more Christians, cut out their tongues
MUSLIM attackers killed 12 people in a small Christian village, cutting out most of the victims’ tongues in the latest violence in a region where religious fighting already has killed hundreds this year.

MUSLIM Raiders entered the village of Byie around 2 a.m., setting fire to homes and driving frightened residents into waiting attackers’ machete blades, said Mark Lipdo, leader of a regional Christian nonprofit group. Ten adults and two children were slain, he said.

It was unclear why attackers took the victims’ tongues. In Nigeria, Muslim killers sometimes take body parts of their victims for black magic or “juju” rituals, later using them as charms.

Agree BareNakedislam gets quite graphic and their language is a seemingly mixture of extreme anger yet with passion for the victims.

Bus as Sean said, this is the cold hard reality and what it takes to show us we are not exactly dealing with Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.

Even animals do things because of God given instincts; but these savages are blood thirsty and sub-human if not demonic.

We here mostly live in our soft comfort zones and can't hardly remotely associate what goes on with our brothers and sisters in Christ suffering so horribly. I pray that we never will, but we need to get prepared; it's possible that someday we will have to make that choice. We seen some of that at Columbine.

I know God is not willing that anyone should perish and we as Christians have to stand in the gap for Christ until he returns. I find it very difficult to pray for those enemies but million of muslims are coming to Christ in Iran and around the world. It is interesting that muslims in America, is it happening as much?

There are many problems world wide that cause concern and grief the devil is working in more places than Nigeria graffic pictures and vulgar comments do not make good for Christian reading, most Christian people are well aware of what is going on in that part of the world, there are of course the few who choose to wear blinkers.
Take our own door step the abuse of Children in the Catholic church. The signs in our towns which say '' You have your Queen we have your country'' no-one is immune these days, the devil is rife as always in every part and corner of society.Murder, abuse, torture and child murderers to name but a few.
I only say about this website because of the language used and the profanity that abounds is something I would not point my children or grandchildren to read or look at, filling their heads with what?...it depends from which way you look at it.(the website)
