I'm soooo relieved that Rick Warren was able to bring in over $2,000,000. It would be nice to see him focus on the gospel than all the other things that he pays attention to.

Wow, he's just helped me figure out a way to eliminate all of OUR debt! I am starting the Church of Lori and I need to raise $15K by January 7--I will have a drive-by drop box and I'll put a cross on the front yard and tell all my facebook friends about it. What a novel way to get money?

Actually Rick Warren wasn't the first to make history...Mr Oral Roberts said he received a vision from God and needed 8 million. He got it too.

Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

Give it time folks: pretty soon, you'll see Rick on TBN, pleading for cash.

Makes me curious as to 'who gave it to him?'

Just another 'bailout',and will not solve their problems.

Church is tooo much like our government today...

Wait until we hear on the News that O gave another bailout to Warren....

    Sorry, I couldn't help myself....

    so true.

btw: Charles Ponzi would be proud of "pastors" like Rick Warren

I am wondering if other seeker churches dontated the money to Rick

cause if it is seen saddleback is a failure,

it would possibly raise questions by many about the seeker and purpose driven church movement

maybe if things going on there like the so-called Hula Ministry at Saddleback

or having their church and others do a bible study on High School Musical 3 movie

The Museum of Idolatry: High School Musical 3 "Bible Study"?

maybe Saddleback wouldnt be going broke

Proverbs 11:28 "Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf"

Proverbs 11:4 4 "Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death"

Proverbs 10:2 "Ill-gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers from death."

the Only true Treasure is Jesus Christ and everything will perish apart from him

I just find it so sadly pitiful when "pastors" start begging for money. What kind of witness is that to the rest of the world? We tell people they just need to place their faith in the Lord, and then you have these "begathons" and stories like this that totally belie the "walk in faith that all your needs will be met according to His will." PITIFUL.

Remember, the Lord is firmly in control at all times....He allows this kind of thing as a test of our faith...for me, it makes me want to pray for these pastors and the folks that listen to them. But I agree, it isn't nice to look at.

I get a little offended when I hear of things like this too but if indeed Rick Warren uses the money as he says “for the community” then maybe the offerings by his congregation were warranted, but, the burden of proof is on him and their elders and God himself is watching. If the money generated is misused, then he only has himself to blame.

I pray this surplus is used for good and meaningful purposes.

    Excellent!

Even worse however is if you try to point this out to Warren's followers, they'll act very defensive like they want to take a bullet for him. I've tried it, and responses have been just that.

    Yeah, it's history making alright...

It has to be the single biggest bunch of Bull(expletive deleted) that has ever been devised by a human being for the sole purpose of getting people who are already scraping the bottom of the bottom of the bottom of the barrel in order to get by into sending this snake-oil salesman their last few cents.

Does this man have no shame?!

Are you talking about the man who is trying to position himself as the self-appointed leader of the OWR? I think not.

It was reported yesterday that he didn't raise the $900K he asked for, he raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.4 MILLION.

Because his “church” will not disclose their financial statements we can assume that he gave the 2.4 million to his good friends at the CFR (counsel of foreign relations) that he is a member of.

    From the membership list:

    Rick Warren CFR
"It is therefore a profound truth that Socialism is the natural enemy of religion. A Christian Socialist is in fact an anti-Socialist. Christianity is the antithesis of Socialism" - Socialism and Religion, Socialist party of Great Britain, 1911.
