GENEVA, Dec. 16 (AP) - (Kyodo)—(EDS: ADD DETAILS)

The Swiss ban on minaret constructions, approved during a national
referendum last month, will be contested at the European Court of
Human Rights, a former spokesperson of the Geneva Mosque told
Kyodo News on Wednesday.

"The appeal was mailed yesterday," Hafid Ouardiri said, while noting
that it was drawn up the day after the referendum, in consultation
with an international team of lawyers.
