Upcoming Sacrifice?

After the fall, God showed that there was no remission of sins except by the shedding of blood. He showed Adam and Eve what was an appropriate sacrifice and how to do the sacrifices. When Noah and his family came off of the ark, he offered an animal sacrifice to God. However, among some of his descendants, they later chose to offer human sacrifices to other gods. Although, some gods required the sacrifice of children, we don't know that all chosen sacrifices were children.
In thinking upon this the other day, I wondered how this would happen. Surely, no one actually volunteered to become the sacrifice (this would have been before the 'glorification' of "Allah". Would the "tribe" or leaders of the people choose who was going to be sacrificed "for the good of the people"? Who would be able to appease the gods? I have a mental image of people of the village or tribe gathering for the sacrifice. The leaders have decided who the sacrifice is going to be and have tribesmen encircle them so that they can't escape. "Friends" of the victim know what's going to happen. They don't want to watch, but they know that it is "for the good of the people" to appease the god who is angry. So, they turn their backs so that they don't have to watch. Others say that they don't want to watch, so they just cover their eyes with their hands, occasionally peeking through their fingers. And, all the while, those who will make the offering continue to close in on the victim who is afraid, and doesn't understand where all of their friends have gone, and why they've been left alone.
We're seeing that in the world today. Israel has been chosen to appease the "war god" on the altar of "peace process". They have decided that this is for the "good of the people". We see people covering their eyes with their hands, occasionally peeking through, to see if it's over with yet. Others, long known as friends, have just turned their backs, muttering that the world will be at peace once the sacrifice has taken place. And the Arab and Islamic world continues to press in for the kill.
For those who have been watching, I won't bother to recap all that is going on. But, it's ironic that many things seem to be falling into place for an "ungodly" sacrifice in time for Passover. With the exception of Isaac, Yahweh never asked that anyone sacrifice a human (and He provided the substitute). Although, He did not ask for the sacrifice of Jesus, He allowed it so that all who believe could come into a right relationship with Him. Human sacrifices are an abomination to Him. And this one will be no different. The "world" is daring to put the apple of His eye on the altar to be killed. But, He has different ideas.
Historically, the Arabs have chosen to attack Israel on its High Holy Days...(Rosh Hoshanna and Yom Kippur). Will 2010 be the year that they will chose to "go in for the kill" on Passover? The drums are beating louder and louder.
In the meantime, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, knowing that true peace will only come to that city with His Second Coming. And keep looking up! Our redemption draws near!!
In Him
