    Default Healing

HI, I have been wondering something about healing. I've seen a few shows (TBN) and have read some of this also about healing. What I'm getting at here is not direct healing from God himself, but a person that claims to have healed someone in Jesus name.
Is this a reality or possiblity that the Lord can allow a mortal human to actually heal another mortal human saying that this is occuring through Jesus? I'm not talking about fakes like Benny Hinn or others like him.
I watched a show on TBN about two guys that went to Salem where a witchcraft festival was going on and these two men went in there to bring people to the Lord. While there, they touched the shoulders and necks of a few people claiming they were healing them though Jesus.
I just wondered if this type of healing IS something God would allow.
I sure don't believe everything on TBN but I do tune in now and then to watch.

Brother, from the Bible I would state that it is NEVER the one who does the healing who claims a healing occurred, but the one who was healed. And the evidence of that healing is so apparent that all who see it KNOW a healing has taken place. The vast majority of all "healings" that allegedly take place are either outright frauds or the result of a temporary emotional response in the one who has been "healed".

Now, having said that, I will affirm that God indeed heals. And He heals both directly and through man as an instrument of that healing, as well. The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, makes that abundantly clear. Now, if God changes, then He possibly doesn't still heal. But He does NOT change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is still Jehovah Rapha ... the God who heals. And among the works of Jesus are those revealed in this prophecy of Isaiah: "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5) It says, "with (or 'by') His stripes we ARE healed." Now many commentators take the position that the word used for "healed"—רָפָא (rapha)—must relate to spiritual healing because the rest of that sentence speaks of our "transgressions", our "iniquities", and our "well-being". Therefore, they say, rapha should be viewed as referring to "healing from sin". This is possible, though I do not believe that means we must restrict it to spiritual healing. But what cannot be denied is the earlier clause: "He has borne our griefs." The word "griefs" is the Hebrew רָפָא (kholi) which literally means "disease", "sickness", "malady". (The Hebrew idiom comes from the fact that illness makes us sad, and severe illness causes us grief.) Therefore, Christ bore our sicknesses upon Himself.

Now, why does God not heal every Christian who asks? We do not know. We DO know that as the Father used suffering to bring His Son to maturity in the flesh, He uses suffering in our own lives. It is never to punish us in order to make us pay for something in which we have failed or disobeyed. It is always to bring us closer to Himself. I do not pretend to know why He does things this way (although I have some pretty good ideas), but I absolutely DO know—and will shout from the rooftops to the entire world—that He is GOOD and that His ways are perfect! We are the puny, mortal, limited product of His Creation and can never know the fullness of the wisdom or knowledge of God. But when we are taken to our place in Glory, and our bodies changed from mortal to immortal, from corruptible to incorruptible, He has told us that then we shall KNOW even as we are known. In other words, we will then possess ALL of the knowledge of all of what are, to us now, the mysteries of God. And in that day we shall glorify Him with all the angel bands!

In any case, there are ample reputable, medically-supported accounts of healings in this world. They are nowhere near as common as the charlatans and the genuinely sincere but misled practitioners of healing claim. But they DO occur. Sometimes without the laying on of hands; sometimes with it. And when a healing occurs, YOU WILL KNOW IT! You won't have to run around claiming "I'm healed! I'm healed!" while to all the world you are evidently not.

As I always tell people, use common sense. And never go chasing a healing. Instead, chase the will of God in your life. Ask, seek and knock (we have His promises that we should do that and expect an answer); but, like Jesus in Gethsemane, be willing to accept His will for you, meekly and obediently, knowing that His will and His timing are perfect!

Thank you Mattfivefour for the great insight, I guess I didn't say what kind of healing, but meant physical. I'm praying for healing and will content myself to wait for the Lord to do it in his own time, not always easy but with patience I will prevail. Thanks again for your help.

God doesn't have to do what we ask Him to do for us.

God can heal but it will only happen when it is God's Will for you to be healed.

    Pray and wait on God.

We will all be healed in Heaven because sickness will not dwell in Heaven. So if you don't get healing here on Earth don't worry about it. God is with His children each and every day and enables us to live with whatever circumstances we have to face even sickness that lead to death.
