    Default The threat from Herod

I'm still currenty reading the Bible, and am learning as I go so forgive me if I come across as naive.

I'm having difficulty trying to understand why our God delivered the enemy or basically destroyed enemies of his people but instead of destroying Herod outright warned Joseph to take his wife and Jesus and flee to Egypt until those who meant harm had passed away. Why not just wipe Herod out like He had done with past enemies of His people so Jesus life would not have been in danger?

So I guess I'm confused why God destroy's some, but at other times when He could quite easily, refrains from doing so with others when they trespass. I just dont get it.

I dont mean to question God, who am I to do that? I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here.

The whole purpose of Jesus' birth, was to become our sin, to die on the cross as predicted, and rise on the third day. If Herod was destroyed, another person would still have too be a danger to Christ. Plus, the whole journey from His conception, to the place of His birth, to coming out of Galilee...things were expected to happen a certain way in order for Israel to be able to determine who the Messiah was when He came. They simply missed it, which was also predicted.
