    Cross The Two Witnesses.

In revelation john is told that he must prophesy again to the people nations etc, now this must be after the visions in revelation have finished and we know that he was about 95-96yrs old so thought struck me is that is john going to be one of the 2 witnesses in revelation ch.11. What do others think?

From time to time this subject pops up on RF. If you do a search you might find the earlier threads. But to answer your question: many people think it will be Moses and Elijah because they are the two who appeared with Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration and represent the Law and the Prophets. I personally have a different view. For Moses to be one of the Witnesses would require him to die twice— once thousands of years ago and once in the future. It is possible for that to happen since Lazarus clearly died twice. But I am more inclined to believe that the two witnesses are two people who have NEVER died yet but were taken to be with God without death (in light of the NT, we would say they were raptured.) These two are Enoch (Genesis 5:24) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11). Both were prophets and walked with God. For me, those are the two. But, of course, I will not argue with anybody else's view. This question is not a matter of doctrine but one of mere interest.

And I thought one of them was a member here on RF, recently. At least, he said so.....

I think this meant that John wasn't going to spend his last days on Patmos, but rather tell others of the revelation the Lord had given him.

One of them is definitely Elijah.

    Malachi 4

5Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

The second one, I think, will probably be Enoch. He never died. But that's my guess. It isn't as clear who it will be other than Elijah.

I once thought that both enoch and elijah were going to be the 2 witnesses, simply because both had been raptured. The thought just came to me while studying ch. 1 of revelation again.

Whoever those two blessed brothers are, I have no desire to be on this earth during their ministry.

I believe Scripture is so silent about their identity, because those to whom it is significant will have no problems identifying them....and those that will not be around to watch from front row seats will either watch live from the Royal Box, or get to welcome them Home when they're done. I'm curious, but there are far more pressing priorities.

I'm guessing that's right--they both were "raptured" and Malachi 4 indicates Elijah would be returning. Enoch is just a hunch based on him being "raptured". As much as I respect these gentlemen, I really don't want to be here when they start their ministries. Ha.

I'd have to agree with you WKUHilltopper. After all, we will have all of eternity to talk to and get to know there two fellows. While they're here they will bring down curses, burn people up with fire from their mouthes and all sorts of "stuff". Like you said, NOT the things I'd like to see happening. Thankfully, we won't have to witness these two in action. But, like I said, will be good to talk with them about all of it some time later on. And I don't believe they will mind sharing either.
