Earlier today I came upon an excellent post on a teen help forum. I will not link to the site because it is full of bad doctrine. But one of the young people trying to deal with the errors there is somebody called Michael from Michigan.
He has written a post that is one of the best posts on the subject of our security in Christ that I have read in a long time. This young man has his doctrine absolutely correct. I would like to share his teaching with you all.
--------------------
Being saved is an absolute guarantee. Paul says in the letter to the Ephesians 1:13 and Ephesians 4:30 that they were sphragizō with the Holy Spirit which thus sphragizō'd them for the day of redemption. Sphragizō means a seal. It's a stamp and it literally means to "secure" or to "preserve. Therefore, when you are saved you are "secured with the Holy Spirit for redemption." Your salvation is guaranteed.
In the book of John, John tells us that one is "born of God" and in John 3 Jesus calls it being "born from above" or "born again". In other words, when you become saved you are "born again." Paul calls this in the letter to the Corinthians a "new creation." In other words, the only way that you can "lose" your salvation is if God makes you unborn, or make you an un-new creation —which won't happened because we are sphragizō. Peter says that we were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ. Which redeemed is lutroō which means a "ransom". In other words, God payed for us with the blood of Christ. The only way this can be "undone" is if God "undoes" Christs payment —which won't happen because we are sphragizō. Paul then says we are declared righteous. To undo this therefore God would have to "undeclare us" —which won't happen because were are sphragizō. We have "eternal life" when we have faith in Christ to save us and if it is eternal we cannot go to "un-eternal." Eternal cannot stop.
In the letter to the Romans, Paul says that, "...those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified." We are also told by Paul that we are justified at the moment of faith in Christ. Therefore, we have been glorified (or technically will be). Not only this but in the letter of 1 John, John writes in verse 13 that we may KNOW we have eternal life. The Book of 1 John was written that we may know that we have eternal life. Therefore, we can know. It's not a "guessing game."
Now, what does this say about all these people who "say they're saved" and then keep on sinning and living in immorality, etc? It means that they were never genuinely saved. Read 1 John. John keeps saying, "those who SAY they have fellowship" "those who SAY..." etc. John is saying that there are people who say they are Christians yet live a contrary life style, John says these people are NOT saved. In other words, "actions speak louder than words." I can say I'm a Christian but if my walk doesn't match then I'm not a Christian. This doesn't mean I'll walk perfectly, because John even says in 1 John 1 that if anyone says they are above sin or that they do not sin that these people aren't saved. So, I will sin, but I will be becoming more and more sinless because God wills and works in me (Philippians 2:13). The Bible says that we have God's seed remain in us (those who are saved). This word for seed is sperma which is where we get our word sperm. In other words, God is technically "growing" in us when we feed Him the Word of God like newborn babes. As He grows in us, we should see Spiritual growth. If there is no growth, we are not saved.

Awesome doctrine! This young man knows more than many supposedly mature Christians. I pray his message gives reassurance to the saved. I also pray it causes the careless "Christian" to realize that the sign of a living relationship with God is changing inward desires and if there is no change, then they need to get right with God, while there is still time.
God bless.
