Well, i don't know that we really can pinpoint God's will. I know I have wrestled with that for awhile and gotten very frustrated. There's one verse that does say "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.Romans 12:2.

I know this probably doesn't answer your question to your satisfaction but I really don't think God is going to let us know everything on a silver platter neither. Maybe someone knows but I just take what responsibilities God HAS given in my life and magnify on them for God's glory...

In general, His will is that all men be saved from the penalty of our sins, and provided The Way in Jesus....nice and simple so even a dolt like me can understand and respond.

However, I suspect you're wondering, like me, what God's will is in my individual life. (Actually, it's His life because He bought it, with blood, an infinite price because that Blood is Holy).

We have His will revealed in Scripture, as to how we are to conduct ourselves, and He even gave us a blueprint for prayer....The Lord's Prayer. Rather than rattle it off by rote like a religious parrot, it is intended to show us what elements are to be included in prayer.

It starts with recognising Him and our relationship to Him (He is our Father through adoption because of the shed Blood of Jesus, He is Holy and is in Heaven, and we have many brothers and sisters),
and our relation to the present world and the world to come (ever prayed "Oh God, bring the Kingdom!"?....that would indicate rejection of this world and joyful eager anticipation of His Kingdom of righteousness, truth, Holiness and love).

Then we submit to His will and align our will with His, and acknowledge that His will isn't being followed perfectly down here, but that we wish it was, too.

Having established the relationship and our agreement with Him, we then ask for what we need to nourish us today (tomorrow is another day and has enough problems, focus on today!), beginning with the Bread of Life (Lord Jesus Christ) and His Word, followed by what we need (which He knows better than we do....we might want a three course meal with a movie and taxi tickets, when we actually just need and get bread crusts and a Bible and lift in a jalopy....on the other hand, we might get a twenty course banquet and a detailed Bible Study from the greatest pastor on the planet (only God knows who it is, and it isn't me!) and a Rolls-Royce, but rest assured He looks after His kids).

And the next bit is something I have a lot of trouble with....sinful man that I am......we ask for forgiveness for our sins (to do this we have to admit them to Him and to ourselves, and in many cases, to first ask Him to show them to us...) in the same way we forgive others. Ouch, oops, uh oh! I've heard from some folks that without repentance there can't be forgiveness....however I can forgive from the heart and let go resentment even when the other party can't or won't listen or repent, perhaps because I don't know where they are, or they died, or they have a repentance and forgiveness problem themselves, or something. That way we purge the bitterness and accusation and self-righteousness from our hearts, and leave the judging and conviction and correction and punishment and restoring to Him Who sees all, including our hearts.

After this, we ask for guidance and strength to get past pitfalls of temptation without falling into them, and to be delivered in this life and the next from our implacable enemy.

Quite a lot from just a couple of verses, and there's plenty more....isn't the word of the Lord a precious living treasure? Well worth spending a lot of time going through verse by verse. And there's not much the devil and his crowd hates more than for a child of God to talk to Father, because thats when divine things start happening....

As for His special will for our lives, Jesus Himself said that people who are moved by the Holy Spirit are like trees moved by the wind, we can see the effects but not the cause (John 3:8). In another Scripture passage we are told we will hear a voice from behind us guiding us (Isaiah 30:21). My walk is still very tottery and stumbling, but I'm learning, and I hope some more mature brothers and sisters flesh out this thread because I'm just a baby (see photo top left of this post). Great answer Micah! During this age of satan's rule, God uses His believers to counter and undo many of the acts satan begins. I believe God wants my total faith, with none of my worries to complicate things. He will urge me into action, provide the verbiage, and even inject the courage to not worry about failure or retaliation. If I can just relax and let Him steer, I believe I am in God's will for my life.
