12 or 13 Tribes?

My teacher was trying to say that their are 13. He said something like somebody had another son that became a tribe. idk. Hes not my Bible teacher, hes my English teacher. Anybody knw what hes talking about?

There are 12 tribes listed in Revelation 7.

Its both Joseph had two sons Ephraim and Manasseh sometime they are counted as one. Some times they are counted as two. In Revelation Dan is left out and Ephraim and Manasseh are counted as separate tribes. Every single word in the bible is there for a reason. Makes a good study.
