    Default Leaven Parable Question

"Another Parable spake he unto them: "The Kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened." Matthew 13:33

We know that leaven is sin, we know that three measures of meal is the frendship offering....

    Your thoughts Please.....thanks....ann

    Hello
Leaven (yeast) are living organisms, and there are two types that Jesus mentioned in his parables. One type was The Kingdom of heaven, and the types were the leaven of man. (wickedness) The two types are incompatible. You can not mix the two types of leaven in dough. The one you nurture will flourish and fill the whole loaf, and the other will die.

I think Jesus mentioned the size of dough because a little leaven goes a long way. He mentioned the same concept with faith and knowledge.

Paul used that same phase in 1 Corinthians 5

"6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."

Now go back to Matthew 13:33 and it may be a little clearer. A new unleavened lump for the leaven of The Kingdom of heaven.

May the Lord bless you and keep you until we meet him in then air!
