    Billy Graham

I am still listening to some audios from a discernment conference that my sister-in-Christ Jewel attended, and Billy Graham was quoted among many others, but what was said about him is that while what he said was doctrinally sound, his actions were suspect, such as his fraternizing with the Vatican, apostates, etc.

This is what I have been saying all along and continue to say and no one seems to believe me or hear me or see it for themselves. He has been unequally yoked for some time now and even in bed with the WCC and other antichrist entities.

See here on Track 3 at minute 10 on.... Billy is mentioned about 10min 57 seconds

    God bless you Berean Girl;

For several decades Billy Graham has been joining with the Roman Catholic Church in his crusades. Those who sign decision cards are turned over to the RCC.

I'm afraid you won't find one single evangelist that is pure as the driven snow. I get hammered all the time for supporting John Hagee, but he's on fire for salvation and bringing sinners to the cross and Jesus. However, I choose to look at the glass half-full. I agree with Sherry that the man will have a mondo crown waiting for him for bringing MILLIONS to Christ. Heaven would be A LOT emptier had it not been for Billy Graham. He's one of maybe two or three I put any stock in and I count myself blessed that I was able to attend his Portland Crusade in 1991.

    God bless you;

For a couple of decades I held Billy Graham in high esteem. I honored his faith, his preaching and his ministry. It was when he went to the old Soviet Union, and his fellowship with the Russian Orthodox that I began to wonder, as the true Church was having to smuggle-in Bibles and was being persecuted.

When ones fruit shares similarities with the WCC, and when the RCC is active in his crusades, that one begins to question.

    http://www.tbaptist.com/aab/billygrahamcrusade.htm

In 1948, Graham said, "The three gravest menaces faced by orthodox Christianity are communism, Roman Catholicism, and Mohammedanism," NOW, he is continually saying nice things about the Catholics. In 1963 Dr. Graham spoke at Belmont Abbey College, a North Carolina Catholic school. On Nov. 21, 1967, he returned to Belmont Abbey to receive an honorary degree. At that time he made a shocking statement. He said, that he "knew of no greater honor" than the receiving of this degree. Then the shocker comes when he said, "The gospel that built this school and the gospel that brings me here tonight is still the way to salvation." Billy Graham surely knows that the gospel did not build that school, for they never preached the gospel! Why would he say such a thing?

In Milwaukee, 10/21/73, Dr. Graham said: "This past week; I preached in a great Catholic Cathedral, a funeral sermon for a close friend of mine who was a Catholic and they had several bishops and archbishops that had come from all over the country, to participate, and as I sat there going through the funeral mass, that was a very beautiful thing. And certainly straight and clear in the gospel that I believe, as far as the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There was a wonderful little priest that would tell me when to stand and when to kneel and what to do . . ."

"The 1972 Franciscan International Award for True Ecumenism" was presented to Billy Graham April 21, 1972 at Minneapolis. Dr. Graham was selected to receive the coveted award by leading Catholic laymen and women in the Twin City area and delegates of the Franciscan Order for "his sincerity and authenticity in presenting the Gospel of Christ."

A disturbed Roman Catholic wrote Graham about some of the changes going on in the Catholic Church. In his answer, Graham wrote, "Above all, don't pull out of the church! Stay in it, stay close to the Lord, and use these experiences as an opportunity to help your church be what God intends and what the world needs." What an answer for a Baptist preacher to give. This was published in his newspaper column, "My Answer".

Billy Graham says: "Anyone who makes a decision at our meetings is referred to a local clergyman, Protestant, Catholic, or Jewish." (1957) Roman Catholic Cardinal Cushing said: "I am 100% for the evangelist . . . I have never known a religious crusade that was more effective than Dr. Graham's. I have never heard the slightest criticism of anything he has ever said from any Catholic source." (1964) In 1963 Billy Graham said that he had a Roman Catholic bishop stand beside him and bless the "converts" as they came forward in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

And on the ecumenical front, as mainline churches were forging interdenominational ties in the 1950s and '60s, Graham used his stadium events to extend interdenominational cooperation in another way. He insisted that he would work with anyone who would work with him, including mainline Protestants and, eventually, Catholics. That decision was a major step in marginalizing fundamentalism and creating the style of a new evangelicalism.

NOTE: It's not about how much someone preaches a "gospel" message, what counts is whether the "gospel" being preached is the faith once delivered to the saints, and when one is willing to get in bed with the rcc, wcc, and other antichrist and apostate organizations, and refer supposedly born-again babes back into those snakepits, I take MAJOR MAJOR issue with that, not to mention heading up and supporting organizations that don't even consider Jewish refugees in their supposed Christian outreach to the disenfranchised and underprivileged, not to mention holding hands with the U.N.

Then again, maybe we should all just hold hands and sing kumbaya... NOT!!!!!!!!!!

    Berean Girl....I'm with you....
I was raised on Billy Graham....but years ago I discovered he is NOT the Great Evangelist that I thought! Folks, we can't blame this on old age either.....As we grow and mature In Christ, we grow in wisdom, knowledge, understanding and discernment.....
Billy Graham may be a true believer and make it to heaven, but I doubt if any BIG CROWN awaits him!!!

The following is from my e-mail, which was posted 8/11/2006 at Worldview Network News:

Billy Graham’s Apostasy Is Older Than You Think

    By Ken Silva
    Apprising Ministries

To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things; From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness. [1]

Age Has Nothing To Do With It

In reading comments around the blogosphere concerning what the Lord has been recently bringing to light regarding Billy Graham and apostasy I notice a number of people attempting to attribute Graham's “rounding off” huge chunks of the historic orthodox Christian faith to his age. I have already covered some of this in "Evangelical" Inclusivism Is Older Than You Think.

The Lord is my witness that Billy Graham was always someone I had looked to as an example and someone I greatly admired in Christ. That is until troubling quotes and questionable associations he’d been making through the years kept coming up in my research. But for those who think that Graham's age is a factor in this apostasy I present the following for your edification.

In his video presentation Billy Graham: The Man and His Message my good friend Cecil Andrews of Take Heed Ministries points out that “when he appeared on the Christian scene in the late 1940’s he certainly did not, at that stage, compromise on the uniqueness of the Person and the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, in fact in 1948 [Billy Graham] made this statement. He said: ‘the three greatest menaces faced by orthodox Christianity are Communism, Roman Catholicism, and Muhammadism,’ which we know is Islam today. The sad thing is that having made that very commendable statement he then subsequently proceeded to retreat on all fronts.”

Dr. John MacArthur then adds the following salient comments concerning the path that this kind of inclusivism, into which Graham would get caught up, took to arrive within the evangelical church:

This has certainly leaped from Aristotle to the [Roman] Catholic Church into evangelical Protestantism. Now we have a kind of Protestant viewpoint that says Muslims and Hindus and whoever are going to be in the Body of Christ, in the Kingdom, in Heaven, with salvation whether they ever get a Bible or whether they ever hear the Gospel or whether they ever know about Jesus Christ. The Billy Graham organization affirmed that this position is the same as the one articulated in an article in Decision magazine which Billy wrote in 1960, so this is not something new. [2]

    Denying The Protestant Reformation

Now we consider these examples not long after the Decision article to which MacArthur refers:

Oct. 29th 1963 Dr. Graham admitted to the 'Daily Journal' of International Falls, Minn., that at a Graham Crusade in San Paulo Brazil the Roman Catholic Bishop stood beside him and blessed the converts as they came forward. Graham said that this illustrated 'something tremendous, an awakening of reform and revival within Christianity' was happening. ('New York Times' Nov. 9th, 1963).

5th July 1968 in 'Christianity Today' Billy spoke of cooperation with apostate Romanism and said, 'I don't think we have all to unite and be one big church to do the work of God, but there are areas where we can cooperate'. [3]

That would be news to Luther and Calvin, not to mention scores of powerful men of God such as Charles Spurgeon. And then as indicitive of Graham’s policy regarding the apostate Church of Rome we consider a letter from Cardinal Roger Mahoney to his priests. It states that Billy Graham will not prostylitize his Roman Catholic parishoners, which has always been Billy Graham's compromised policy in this area. Cardinal Mahoney says:

These officials [from BGEA] have assured me that, in keeping with Dr. Graham’s belief and policy, there will be no proselytizing [of Roman Catholics], and that anyone identifyiing him or herself as a Catholic will be referred to us for reintegration into the life of the [Roman] Catholic church… Dr. Graham preaches the Gospel with great eloquence and with a true ecumenical spirit,… [4]

And men and women, Tim Challies is telling the truth in his piece Billy Graham and Ecumenicism when he says:

Conservative Christians have long lamented Billy Graham's ecumenicism. Since the early days of his ministry, Graham has worked hand-in-hand with Catholic Churches and has often expressed his belief that Catholics who are faithful to Roman Catholic teachings are saved. [5]

Satan’s Spirit Of Ecumenicism Penetrates Christ’s Church

So as you should now be able to see this apostasy by Billy Graham has been happening for quite some time now and apparently Christ has had enough of it. Because the tragic result for those following Graham’s Reformation-denying example is an inclusivism which has now slithered its way into an evangelicalism that had never renounced her humanism. This repugnant ecumenical spirit of compromise has actually entered the very sanctuary of our Lord through the Ecumenical Church of Deceit with its Purpose Driven new evangelical message of Rick Warren and the Emergent “twist to universalism” offered by men like panentheist Spencer Burke of TheOoze and the sinner sensitive self-esteem “whichever way the wind blows” message of Joel Osteen .

So you can now see that Billy Graham’s apostasy isn’t really so new after all, is it? However, the devastating effects upon the Body of Christ are only now being brought to light by God the Holy Spirit:

For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? [6]

My sister and my numerous friends came to know the Lord Jesus because of Billy Graham's message of Jesus' saving grace. ( PTL he uses The Bible which today is a great thing!)

Is he a sinner? Yes. Saved by the grace of Jesus? Yes. Are WE sinners? Yes.. hopefully all reading have confessed their sins and asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.

I'm sure Billy's crown at the Bema seat will look mighty wonderful compared to my peanut crown. Praise God our sins will not be seen. amen!

Sherry, if I didnt know better, I would think that you are passing judgment on those who are just posting facts that back up our statements... I dont appreciate being called "satan's little helper" and that is a low blow.... I believe Buzz has already addressed this on the Chuck Swindoll thread.

Jesus said that we were to examine the fruit and we would know them by their fruit. He also said that as the endtimes drew near, there would be many who would fall from the faith (apostacia), and that is clearly being indicated by all these cited references. It appears to me that you are taking this very personally, which should not be occurring.

I would be remiss to not point out non-orthodox leanings and teachings. That would be cruel and un-Christian, and especially not Biblical. I have been called to be a watchman and I will report on the current trends. If you find that this is an unpleasant topic, maybe you may want to consider not posting or moving to a different thread.

    God bless you.

    Sherry,
I admire your loyalty to great men of God but remember we are stuck in our fallen flesh and we slip up.

We place our Faith in only one Man and that is the Son of Man - Jesus Christ - God in the Flesh.

We are examining the theology of these men, not them personally but in what they stand for and what we stand for in Truth & Pure Doctrine.

Be a Berean and examine the words of men and weigh them against scripture.

If these men were not untouchable we would be speaking with them personally in hopes they would reconsider their new doctrinal positions or retract their statements.

We know they did not begin their ministries this way and hope they don't end up in the Emergent pit.

Please rephrase your statements or PM me & Chris.

Oh and one more thing...Rick Warren calls Billy Graham on of his mentors...
Billy Graham's fingerprints are all over his ministry!!!!!

"One of the most profound effects of Billy's leadership has been his stoking the fires of other leaders beyond his own organization. Rick Warren, author of the bestselling The Purpose Driven Life said, "Billy's fingerprints of influence are all over my ministry."

    <Disclaimer:

In a nutshell, Pat Robertson, Billy Graham, Rick Warren and others have all had great moments in ministry and though we disagree with where their ministries are heading I feel we should pause and respect how they have at times been used mightily by God bringing many souls to the kingdom.

    Just think of Samson.
If Samson was not mentioned in Hebrews as a great man of faith we would all believe he was sent to hell.

I think I'm going to stick with my earlier assessment of things and just step away. I believe what I believe and it's between me and God. Sing4Him and I stand pretty much in the same place. I can spend hours pouring over what someone said, but I'll keep my preferences to myself. And yes, I said I like John Hagee. I have taken TONS of crap for that, but I like him and have learned a lot. Just because people say he's WOF, and even if he exhibits it, I have a personal choice to follow it or not to follow it. Just because people get fired up, I'll still watch and listen to him and to Billy Graham.
