Default THE RICK WARREN DEBATE-what do you think?

DEFEND A MAN OR GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST?!Posted by DG in NC on Dec 29, 2006 15:57

Firstly, I too am a member of a Southern Baptist Church. I am OFFENDED that Rick Warren NEGLECTS the message of sinners saved by grace of Jesus the Son of God who died on the cross for us so that we might have eternal life. Rick uses his own (Man's, Humanistic, ecumenicism, EMERGENT..) methologies to appease man and GROWTH of "a" church.
Jude 1:3-->" Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly CONTEND FOR THE FAITH which was once delivered unto the saints." Again, what is the FAITH? It is NOT a man's methods or a man's verbosity! It is the GOSPEL MESSAGE as stated above! So, what attack? The Bible tells us to expose false teachers!
2 Timothy 4:4-4--> "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths."
What is SOUND DOCTRINE? We are sinners saved by Jesus Christ who died for us.
IF this message is neglected and a Method goes FIRST before Scripture (the Bible). Hebrews 4:12--"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.", then you have a false message going forth.
I pray Rick Warren wakes up and brings Jesus FIRST to those who do not know Him as their Lord and Savior and not a "Purpose Driven, P.E.A.C.E. plan"!
    PLEASE WAKE UP BELIEVERS!

What do I think? I think Rick Warren presents "another gospel" - man-centered, not Christ-centered....worldly not heavenly....

I have to agree and its only going to get worse.... very very very dire times we are in.... I am constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop while listening to preachers on the radio, on tv and even in my church.... so far so good with my church except for the love affair with certain organizations and other things, but still sound.

I think he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I think he has deluded himself and therefore, deludes those who follow him. It is a sad thing indeed. I am so blessed that I am finally in a sound, non-seeker sensitive, non-emergent, non contemplative and non new age church. The Lord has truly blessed my family.

When a Man's BOOK (humanistic methodology--appeasing anyone) Goes BEFORE God's word, the Bible ("sharper than ANY two-edged sword:-Hebrews 4:12) you will find APOSTASY. Period.

'bring on ecumenicism and Lord Jesus, take your children home!

    Angry He ALSO neglects....

Prophecy ENTIRELY :woah: !! Methinks he DOESN'T WANT Jesus to come again, and/or he is a PRETERIST :woah: !!

False teachers NEVER want Biblical prophecy taught nor fulfilled :tongue !! It means their time, like Satan's, is short on this earth !!

Oddly he claims to be a member (also his church) of the Southern Baptist Convention. (Now, I could go into what is going On inside the SBC and you would pass out! Embracing Contemplative prayer etc.. yes they are!)

Anyway.. if Rickie is a SB, then he would be a pretribber.

(By the way, I am DG in NC!)

Sing - you are exactly correct....Rick is a member of the SBC and a SB...
"Rick Warren is the founding pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. He and his wife, Kay, began the church in their home in January 1980, with one family

Now, with 16,000 in attendance each weekend, and over 50,000 names on the church roll, Saddleback is one of America's largest and best-known churches. It's been named the fastest growing Baptist church in history, and the largest church in the Southern Baptist Convention."

Yes, he believes in the rapture, but says we are not to focus on it as it distracts us from our "purpose"!!!! UGH!!!!! Here is what he says in his book:
"every time Jesus' disciples asked Him about future things (prophecy), the Lord always changed the subject. Jesus, didn’t want His disciples to think about the prophetic future because it distracts from doing things in God’s work now."

    Sick!!!!!!

Well, the Truth is Jesus thought prophecy so important that He saw to it that the Olivet Discourse was recorded in 3 Gospel books - Matthew 24 & 25, Mark 13 & Luke 21. AND Jesus gave the entire Book of Revelation to John

Rick Warren's "other gospel" is earthly not heavenly...His focus is building the Kingdom on earth!!!!! He is a wolf!!!! He butchers the Scriptures!!!!!!!
