Thumbs down The Great Apostasy of the local church

paraphrased from A Time of Departing

    p.123
Paul tells us of the Great Falling away in II Thessalonians 2:3
    Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Alice Bailey calls it the "regeneration of the churches"
"The Christian church has many branches to serve as a John the Baptist crying in the wilderness through which world illumination may be accomplished."

Instead of opposing Christianity the occult world captures and blends itself in with Christianity using the local church as a primary vehicle for spreading New Age consciousness.

Various churches retain their outer shell of Christianity with their terminologies for traditional Christian doctrine but it's all an outward appearance, on the inside there are different definitions to the same terminologies drawing people inside with contemplative spiritual answers not true Bible doctrine.

    p.124
Paul proclaimed they would fall into "the mystery of iniquity" II Thessalonians 2:7
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

'"the mystery of iniquity" means the hidden (occult)

"The Christian is not to become a Hindu or Buddhist nor a Hindu or Buddhist become a Christian, but each must assimilate the spirit of each other - Vivekananda

    p.125
Merton's dream fulfilled is mystical unity within religious diversity, in other words, the one world religion is already here.

    p.126
Any claims to superiority are damaging. Religions need not be compared, all we are expected to do is serve man by revealing the love manifested through Jesus.

But to reveal the love of Jesus you must proclaim the sacrificed blood of Jesus for salvation.

    p.127
The view that Christianity is not the only religion that offers salvation fits the Merton/Nouwen notion of salvation rather than the true message preached by the Apostles of the New Testament.
While other religions may have good elements, they lack the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ which is the only way to true salvation.

70% of Christian polls believe "Jesus might be my way but other ways such as 'higher self' is equally fine"

Jesus is starting to be seen as just a role model rather than our only saviour and only one of many manifestations of God rather than the only manifestation of God.

    p.130
It is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ that saves mankind, not the silence of contemplative prayer.

If this statistic is referring to Christians believing that there are other ways to salvation, that is appalling!! And very upsetting, too. It is everyone's right to choose who/what they will follow and worship, but for that many Christians to believe it is okay,

True Buzzard, I wounder if any of the first Christine's would recognize the church of the 21 century. From what I have seen in my 23 years, they would acting like Jesus did when He saw the money changers in His Fathers house. But now we are that church, each one of us. When Jesus told us not to forsake the gathering of our selfs, I belive He did not mean to gather so we could do whats going on in most mega churches. It was for use to come together and learn of Him through each one of us and how He is dealing with us. But no we end up turning the house of God into a place of business. Thats why you have to go to collage to learn how to run a church. Thats what my wife degree is in, Bible Business. That was before she ran into me...LOL!!!

    Great Post.....Buzz

It breaks my heart to see "the church" imploding today. Who today preaches the "blood"?.....where are the alters? where are is the cross? And why do we need Wall Street to teach the church to run it's affairs? What happened to "faith"......waiting on the Lord? Here in Washington, I can't find a local church to worship in.....all are on board with Ric Warren.... Some fly under the radar....careful in the sermons...but classes teach New Age....things. So sad.:sorry

I can't go to a church with a good conscious, knowing that the churches teach and follow Ric Warren. If I do then people who know me will think "it's a safe church"......

I miss church fellowship....so I am going to have Christians over to our home watch DVD's on Bible subjects and Study God's Word.....

Time is getting short.....we may be going home sooner than most think..... "Come Lord Jesus, Come!"

    God Bless <><

I agree with Gods Lamb, I don't go to church for this very reason. I was going to a small church but within a few years They started building a mega church, went for a year. things changed drastically. Same minister. I just didn't hear much on teaching the bible. It was a feel good church. I quit going and turned to God for all my teaching. He has answered my prayers. To know him is to love him, I agree Come Lord Jesus Come!

It is a very very sad story that it is happening everywhere, her in Australia too.....it is tough to find other believers that want to pray with you or study the Scriptures ....of course if we are not progressing we are receding....and if we ( starting with me) don't stick to the Jesus of The Bible with the superglue of His Spirit..well,we will invent another Jesus and another gospel and another spirit...we are truly bombarded with so much useless religion in which man is exalted and glorified...not to mention the doctrines of demons...after all it has been written that in the end times we had to see this...All I say is,Father God,out of Your great immense Amazing Grace bring us back to the simple and powerful Gospel of Your son Jesus our Lord and Saviour, remind us from what pit of Hell You have rescued us and help us to be humbly submitted to You and Your Word...take us back to The Bible where we learn that in our flesh dwells no good and that only in Jesus and because of Jesus there is life and a more abundant one, brake this devastating cycle of lies ...we want Jesus oh my Lord..we want Jesus....Amen,All Glory and Power and Honor to YOU and YOU ALONE.

Jesuschangesall, that is the most important concept that any of us can carry - - "it starts with me".

I watched part of Jimmy Swaggart tonight. The songs were good. Then Donnie started to preach. He had a good message, was really enjoying it. Then he switched messages and told about what wonderful equipment they were buying to spread the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth. Then HOW MUCH MONEY IT WAS GOING TO COST and how the viewers were going to pay for it. How they were going to be blessed with prosperity for giving (with story of how it works of course).

The collection message was twice as long as the sermon. Just what the world needs for salvation is how to get rich giving to God.
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chron 7:14 (KJV)
