The ONE Conference Is Set to Invade Miami with a Seeker-Driven Packed Lineup
Next weekend, February 10-12, the ONE Conference will invade Miami, FL,
and with it will arrive many of today's "usual suspects" in the seeker-driven camp.
In fact, part of the speaker lineup looks like an unfortunate blending of those who headlined at the Code Orange Revival and at the Elephant Room 1 & 2.
That's right, this conference boasts such recently familiar names as James MacDonald, Ed Young, Jr., Christine Caine and Greg Laurie.
And with Caine being just one of 3 speakers from the Hillsong Church empire, I'm sure we can expect a few of our favorite Word-Faith teachings tossed in for good measure.
The mantra of the ONE Conference is "Unite. Ignite. Impact." Of course, there's very little explanation as to what this actually means, but who cares when you have a catchy video with a great, narcissistic worship song?

The above video asks, "What if the church actually united under the name of Jesus Christ?" Well, that's great...as long as we're all talking about the same Jesus! May we pray that God would protect us from being so naive as to believe that all those who profess the name of Jesus Christ, yet do not preach, teach or live the biblical Gospel, are actually members of the true Church!
At 29 seconds into the video, it is declared that this conference will "bring together the most exciting lineup of modern-day church leaders to: Unite the Church. Ignite the Passion. Impact the World."
So, apparently unity can only happen under the leadership of the "most exciting" people?
I suppose this makes sense, since often the most exciting people are also the most eager to embrace in a big ecumenical bear hug with those who teach a false gospel.
Perhaps we ought to question their definition of unity, because even the Apostle Paul did not teach church unity over and above the truth of the Word of God.
And of course, without the church's "most exciting" leaders, we could never dream of impacting the world. Nope, we definitely need big names, flashing lights, and a stadium for that to happen.
Anything to make Christianity seem more compelling. Because, you know, that stale old Bible and those boring old preachers who just stand there and open up the Word, all of that is so...dull.
I have no doubt that this "history making event" will fill the Bank United Center in Miami.
I have no doubt that Bibles will be waved in the air, Jesus will be mentioned, and half-verses will be quoted.
What I do doubt, however, is that the whole counsel of God as revealed in His Word will be preached without distortion. There is little question that attendees will be encouraged to go out into the world and do good works.
Unfortunately, there is great uncertainty that the attendees will leave with a full understanding that those good works will never get them to Heaven.
Sadly, there is great doubt that the biblical Gospel will actually be preached without compromise.
