    Life Change Via Sexpirament

Somehow, we don't think this is the "life change" that the Bible talks about.

    btw:

one other thing about Ed Young Jr. 's sex obsession

seeker pastors obsessed with teaching people on how to have a great sex life instead of preaching from the bible

is what leads to the single bashing that is prevelant in many seeker and some acts 29 network churches

cause sex crazed pastors like Ed Young Jr. tend to get mean spirited (especially around valentines day) towards singles

"Code Orange" Speaker Ed Young, Jr.

“Code Orange” Speaker Ed Young, Jr. at Christian Research Net

It's been nearly a month since we've examined another speaker for the upcoming Code Orange Revival, hosted by young, Seeker-Driven pastor Steven Furtick. With this event, which is set to begin one month from today,

Furtick aspires to gather a group of leaders together in order to cause an "eruption" of God's power and movement. The speaker lineup for this volcanic event is quite extensive, so we are examining them one by one.

    In previous posts,

we've looked at LifeChurch.tv visionary Craig Groeschel, prosperity preacher Jentezen Franklin,

Hillsong darling Christine Caine, and Joel Osteen's worship leader, Israel Houghton.

Most recently, we examined Stovall Weems, lead pastor at Celebration Church in Jacksonville, FL.

Weems' book and corresponding campaign, Awakening, seems to promote not only works-righteousness, but hails experience over and above the truth of the objective Word of God. Weems also runs with a Word-Faith crowd,

as one of his more notable friends is Pastor Robert Morris, whose now well-known shill is to preach that one's finances are cursed until 10% of it to has been given to the local church.

Morris has not only preached at Weems' church, but has also brought his The Blessed Life sermon series to Newspring Church, where Perry Noble pastors.

Rick Warren has also invited Morris onto his stage, so we can see that this pitch must be a profitable one indeed.

But this post is not about Robert Morris, it is about Ed Young, Jr., lead pastor of Fellowship Church (of the SBC).

Young preaches the same abominations as Morris and will be preaching at Morris' Gateway Church at the All Access conference in March 2012, along with Craig Groeschel, Christine Caine, Priscilla Shirer and Morris himself.

Indeed that speaker lineup promises a weekend of prosperity, and perhaps even a touch of mysticism with the inclusion of Shirer.

Young has taken his preaching on finances to the extreme, even going so far recently as to issue his congregation a "money-back guarantee" on their tithe if God failed to come through with blessing.

    Source: FBCJax Watchdog

In the above video, Ed Young, Jr. declares,

"Here's the deal: this is the 'God challenge'. This is a money-back guarantee, is what I'm sayin'. In other words, we have 7 weekends from now until the end of the year. And I'm going to ask you to sign up. If God does not bless your life and show up in huge ways, we'll give you God's money back.[scant applause]. I'll say it again.

I know it's hard to believe, a church doing this. You do this for seven weeks, make sure you participate in a way that we can track it in our financial office, we'll give you God's money, ha ha, did you get that, God's money, back!" (Online source)

Actually, Ed, it's not difficult to believe that a "church" like yours would do this, considering the master, Robert Morris, did the exact same thing earlier this year. This "money-back guarantee" usually comes on the heels of a classic Scripture-twist in order to bully the congregation into coughing-up tithing a mandatory 10% of their income to their local circus church. The typical go-to passage for this teaching is Malachi 3.

The reader may recall the recent post entitled Which One of These is Just Like the Other?,

wherein it was demonstrated that even "conservative Bible teacher" and Gospel Coalition member James MacDonald has resorted to teaching this passage, as well as 1 Kings 17:8-16, out of context as a means of funding Harvest Bible Chapel's latest financial campaign. Of course, even MacDonald hasn't yet gone so far as to guarantee a refund of "God's money."

Ed Young, Jr., however, focuses quite often on money, and last year stooped so low as to request of his congregation that they offer him their checking account routing numbers. But he has one other inappropriate emphasis....sex.

Back in 2008, Young was one of the first mega-church pastors to summon his congregation to a "sex challenge." Perhaps the reader is familiar with Young's antics during this sermon series, as he actually preached a sermon from a bed that had been placed on the stage.

Well, three years later, Young is at it again, this time bringing about "life change" with his latest book, The Sexpirament.

Why do I get the feeling that this isn't the same life change that is spoken about in the holy Word of God?

Sexperiment Locations from Fellowship Church on Vimeo.

And all of God's people said...ew.

TheSexperiment.com from Fellowship Church on Vimeo.

The book description on Amazon tells us that, "while society has taken sex too far, the church hasn't taken it far enough" (Online Source). What has happened to the priorities of the pastor when he finds it necessary to dwell on these temporary themes rather than to dedicate his ministry to the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. (2 Timothy 4:1-2)

Money and sex, two of the church's favorite topics apparently.

And interestingly enough, two of the world's favorite topics as well

Sin, wrath, and judgment, followed by a message of grace and forgiveness and submission to a holy God, well, that's just boring!

Such discussion could never draw a crowd! It does indeed seem that "sex sells," both on television and in the church.

The list of reasons why one should avoid Ed Young, Jr. could go on and on. Many were mentioned or discussed in this post, as we began to understand Young's C3 Global initiative.

C3 Global itself was examined in further detail here, and the reader may reference that if he so wishes.

Young has preached such "relevant" sermon series as "Swagger Jacker" wherein he exhorts his audience to claim their "Godfidence."

Absurdities like this, along with alliances and friendships with the likes of Joel Osteen, promotion of and participation in various Hillsong conferences...

all of these activities and more seem to place Ed Young, Jr. firmly into the camp of preachers who have misused and abused the title of 'pastor.'

And they seem to confirm any suspicions one may have regarding Young's propensity toward Word-Faith doctrine.

Yet, isn't that the recurring theme that we are seeing with these various Code Orange Revival speakers?

This theme of the heretical Word-Faith movement ought to cause one to begin to question seriously just what kind of "eruption" is going to take place next month.

The reader would do well to remember that also among Furtick's list of scheduled speakers are the "young, restless and reformed" Acts 29 pastor and Gospel Coalition council member

Matt Chandler as well as fellow Gospel Coalition council member James MacDonald of Walk in the Word and Harvest Bible Chapel fame.

Both of these men will also be speaking at Perry Noble's Newspring Leadership Conference in 2012

And surely the reader is aware that MacDonald has invited Oneness Pentecostal and Word-Faith heretic T.D. Jakes to participate in next year's Elephant Room 2 conference.

And, not surprisingly, Steven Furtick announced earlier this month that T.D. Jakes also would be headlining at his Code Orange Revival.

So once again we must ask, especially of MacDonald and Chandler, two supposedly conservative and reformed pastors: Why?

Why would you agree time and again to share a stage and a platform with men and women who preach not just a weak gospel, but a false one? The members of your local and extended flocks deserve an explanation from the men they no doubt trust and respect.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8-9)

Я U READY FOR THE SEXPERIMENT?
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Dec 14, 2011 in Current Issues, Features

As Apprising Minsitries surveys crumbling Christendom as it implodes from man-love the landscape grows increasingly darker.

With things like the following, it’s now even becoming downright creepy. Not too many would have envisioned a time where evangelicalism would be this far off-track.

Certainly not a time where the pastor would strive to be a sexpert from the pulpit. Well, it was stated elsewhere that one day not too far away a pastor and his wife will not only be sitting upon a bed as part of a love-making sermon.

Rather, in the interest of furthering the *cough* gospel of Christian sex, of course, they’ll actually disrobe and then provide an intimate demonstration. We are now moving a little closer with SBC megapastor Ed Young and his wife Lisa who tweets:

    (Online source)

The link now takes us over to the Sexperiment website hawking a new book by that title from Ed and Lisa Young all about:

    (Online source)

Wow, I can almost hear the voice of Jesus Himself. And after-all, the Master did tell us — for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). You know, you’ll be talking about what’s of utmost importance to you.

And you know this book’s got to be good as it’s endorsed by spiritual wingnut “Rev.” Run, Word Faith heretics pastor Brian and pastrix Bobbi Houston of the notorious Hillsong Church and Prophet-Pastor Steven Furtick:

    (Online source)

We still await to see which of these couples will be the first to be authentic enough to copulate right on stage.

Congregational life getting just a bit so-so and routine?

Has that electricity that marked your call when you were first installed at your current charge gone flat?

Worried that the eyes of your congregation may be starting to wander flirtatiously to ogle younger, better looking pastors?

Then you need to write a book on the Christian approach to marriage and sex!

It seems to be the latest thing: middle aged pastors writing books about sex and/or talking about it in the pulpit all the time.

Don't get me wrong: if you and your wife being "on the job" seven days in a row has revitalised your marriage and your spiritual life, nobody could be happier than yours truly.

I am absolutely delighted for you. Really, I am.

But I do wonder if the rest of us need to know about it. I especially wonder if your children and your parents-in-law and your congregation need to know about it.

I also wonder why the theme has become so prominent in contemporary evangelical discourse, with a veritable cottage industry surrounding the issue.

Anyone who says the church does not talk about it enough has

    (a) not taken any notice of what is now a near constant theme at Christian conferences and in the most high-profile and successful conservative evangelical ministries and

    (b) taken time to see how comparatively little detail scripture actually provides about these things.

The Song of Solomon, a few references in the gospels and Paul and that's pretty much your lot.

The Bible seems on the whole not to have a major obsession with the matter and does not trivialise it by telling you to "put the ping back in your pong" or offering helpful advice on how "to reach for some creative and original ways to connect physically."

In fact, the current evangelical obsession with sex seems more like an intrusion of the culture than a priority of scripture. You think the world has great sex?

Become a Christian and you will have it even better and far more frequently.

It is strangely analogous to patristic apologetic: there the world had its ascetics and men like Athanasius therefore presented the asceticism of a monk like Anthony as superior to that of pagans.

Now we have sex. It is the same principle but much more fun.

    OK, I know that we now all agree that there are no such things as celebrity pastors and that anyone who claims the contrary is probably motivated by envy and base motives;

but if, for the sake of argument, we were to allow that there might occasionally, just occasionally, be a vague and distant analogy between Hollywood and the church,

I wonder if middle-aged pastors writing and speaking about sex is not becoming the evangelical equivalent of forty-something actresses doing nude scenes.

Look: your career is in decline, the only cover shoot you have had in months was for Professional Librarian Monthly,

younger stars are rising, or maybe you just want to keep yourself way out in front. What do you do?

You tell the cameraman to switch to soft focus, you put the airbrush team on standby and you take your kit off. Never fails.

And no, I'm not writing this because I am envious of Ed's teeth. I am -- but that is not why I am writing.

‘Sexperiment:’ Pastor, Wife to Spend 24 Hours in Bed on Church Roof
Published January 7th, 2012 by Marsha West in American "Christianity", Culture, Culture War, Marriage
The Christian Post reports this sad state of affairs:

Ed and Lisa Young, founders of Texas-based Fellowship Church, will spend 24 hours in bed on the church roof next week and stream themselves live on the Internet to encourage married couples to see firsthand the power of a healthy sex life as prescribed in their new book, Sexperiment.

Two days after their book, Sexperiment: 7 Days to Lasting Intimacy with Your Spouse, is released Tuesday, the Youngs will take part in a 24-hour “bed-in,” which will be streamed on the book’s website as they engage the audience on issues related to intimacy in marriage.

Does Anyone Really Need Ed and Lisa Young to Tell Them How to Have Great Sex?

"....the cult of celebrity has seeped into our sanctuaries...

Too many people in the pews would rather have a celebrity in the pulpit instead of a good shepherd of souls, a good servant leader...Is it any surprise, then, that the Church has been rocked over the last few decades by clerical scandals?" Charles Colson, 1/4/12 Christian Post.

Cult of Celebrity Seeps Into Church, Christian News

"Sex is here [pointing to his head], before it is here [pointing to his crotch at left]. Order the book today, the 'Sexperiment' will change your life." Ed Young promo video for his new sermon series and book.

Charles Colson wrote an article last week about how the "cult of celebrity" has crept into the church. This topic has been something I have discussed and given examples of on this blog for several years.

Cult of Celebrity Seeps Into Church, Christian News

The cult of celebrity has given us preachers who arrive on the mega church scene with phony stories and credentials and false motives to get their hands on people's pocketbooks or their sexual organs or both, preying on the gullibility of Christians wanting to listen to great story tellers rather than humble preachers.

It has given us preachers who have the freedom and power to stand on their mega stage to completely misuse scripture and threaten people into forking over more money to purchase God's protection from some phony curse.

I can't think of a more timely example of the cult of celebrity than Ed Young's latest sermon series "Sexperiment", and the release of he and his wife's new book of the same name released to coincide with the sermon series designed to help people see how "...sex done God’s way can lead to a life punctuated by exclamation marks." Now THAT gospel will sell, brother!

Do Christians - does ANYONE - really need Ed and Lisa Young to tell them how to have a great sex life?

Apparently Ed is a financial expert and tells you how to avoid curses through tithing - and now he is going to tell you how great sex can be, as though we didn't know! Do people need to be enticed to come hear his sermon series with a promo video entitled "Locations" depicting seven locations for sex in your house: the kitchen, the landing of a staircase, a car in the garage, the living room (as seen below):

And Fellowship Church members I'm sure are proud that their "tithes" withdrawn from their checking account are being used to produce another "Sexperiment" promo video entitled "Bang"

featuring images very similar to the images of a space shuttle launching, a car going into a tunnel, a geyser expelling water and steam - and finally a cork exploding out of a bottle with the words "Start your year off...with a BANG."

Yes, Christians, you need your pastor and your church to tell you to have MORE SEX!

The proof that these mega churches are overcome with their own celebrity is that they, like many celebrities who are really just "famous for being famous" as Colson said - they think they are experts on matters they either know nothing about,

or that they have no special knowledge or experience in. And sometimes they are just flat out quacks who give out wrong, harmful information and use scripture to get people to buy their nonsense.

Take Robert Morris: he went to preach last year at Rick Warren's church to delivery his phony-baloney tithing sermon, and Rick Warren actually described Morris to his church as a leading financial expert.

No, when it comes to finances, Morris is a quack. He teaches false, harmful, damaging doctrine about buying protection from God's curses
    .

But you do have to hand it to Young, as he is breaking new ground in church marketing.

What better way to maximize sales for your new book, than to hype it on your church website, make its release coincide with your sermon series,

and then have a gimmick media event such as Ed's "bed in" where he and his wife will stay in bed for 24 hours straight in a bed on top of the church. You can sell the book like hotcakes in your church during the sermon series.

Mega church pastors everywhere, take note, Ed shows you how to do it. Don't take your sermon series after-the-fact and turn the sermons into a book - instead, write the book, release it to coincide with the sermon series, and market it to the hilt with promo videos prepared for free by the church video production crew.

I can't wait to see how the likes of Perry Noble, Steven Furtick, and the rest of the mega pastor gang follow Ed's lead on this.

The only disappointment: that Ed Young won't appear in Elephant Room II so that the pastors at FBC Jax's pastor's conference could sit at the feet of Ed Young, along with T.D. Jakes and James MacDonald, and learn from the best on how to be a great pastor.

The Frozen Chosen Are Leading the Blind Off a Rooftop Into Hell

Wade Burleson: The Frozen Chosen Are Leading the Blind Off a Rooftop Into Hell

Yesterday I spent my second day interviewing an 82-year-old man who is telling me his life story.

Born in 1929 to a poor Oklahoma whiskey bootlegger, losing his eye in a knife accident at the age of three, raised in a home where birthdays and Christmas were never celebrated because of abject poverty, and only hearing the name of God or Christ used in epitaths, this gentleman--and I mean gentle man--has overcome long odds against him to become a highly successful businessman in Oklahoma.

I listened yesterday as this man shared with me how Christ changed his life at the age of 26.

He and his 22-year-old wife were saved on the same day. How did it happen? A co-worker in the oil fields of New Mexico took the time to share Christ with the young couple. He wasn't pushy.

He asked questions of a spiritual nature, but he expressed his love through his friendship toward the young couple.

In time, because of the influence of this co-worker, the man and his wife attended church for the first time in their lives.

They went at the invitation of their friend to a small Baptist church called Loveland Baptist Mission. "We didn't know what to expect, but the preacher--an older man who had experience in the oil fields himself--began to talk about Jesus Christ. He didn't use flowery words, and he didn't distract us with us with silly illustrations. He spoke from his heart and explained how Jesus Christ came and died for people who have messed up their lives like he had, and how Christ has the power to change the lives of those who will surrender to Him. At the conclusion of the message the pastor invited people to place their faith and confidence in Christ.

As my wife and I looked at each other with tears in our eyes, we both knew that we needed Christ. That day my wife and me were both saved. God worked us over from head to foot. We were never the same. It was the most important day of my life!"

As I listened to my aged friend emotionally describe his conversion experience, and knowing the "success" he has (as the world defines success), I was struck by the depth of his feelings about the day of his conversion. You could see it in his eyes. You could hear it in his voice. Christ meant the world to him. I spent the next eight hours typing this portion of his narrative for his family members and arrived home around midnight.

I checked my email and found a question from a pastor asking me about my Augustine post (from yesterday) and the feelings I had about Pastor Ed and his wife Lisa Young placing their bed

on top of their church's roof for 24 hours to promote their new book on sex called Sexperiment: Seven Days to Lasting Intimacy with Your Spouse. I had heard about the promotion for the book, but I decided to log-in this morning and watch Pastor Ed and Lisa--in their bed on the roof of the church--as they answered interview questions about their sex life and the new book.

I was still a little tired from the night before, but I listened carefully to Ed and Lisa as they bundled up against the twenty degree temperatures of early morning Dallas.

After being given a vivid visual for the phrase "The Frozen Chosen," I found my mind drifting toward the interview I had the day before.

My elderly friend had movingly described for me how he and his wife--at the time a young couple in the prime of their lives, the very group Ed and Lisa are targeting--had been transformed by a pastor's message on the person and work of Jesus Christ.

A few questions came to mind as I gazed at the LiveFeed of Pastor Ed and Lisa on the roof of their church:

(1). Do people know that even if their sex lives improve, they are still headed for a date with hell, unless they come to place their confidence and faith in Christ?

(2). Do Christian people understand the importance of taking the time to thank those pastors and teachers who instruct us of Christ and His death--a message deemed "foolish" by the world and the cause of much ridicule--but the only message God uses to change lives?

(3). Could there possibly be some eighty-year-olds--sixty years from now--who curse the day they ever fell under the teaching of a preacher who taught them how to have better sex?

(4). Is it too harsh to say that any Christian preacher who spends time, money and effort to encourage people how to have better sex--while in bed with his wife on the roof of his church--may actually be guilty of leading the blind off a rooftop into hell?

When I get to heaven I want to find that pastor at Loveland Baptist Mission, Loveland, New Mexico. Fifty-five years ago he spent a week preparing a message about Christ.

He walked into the church building that next Sunday morning and saw a new young couple had been seated on the front row. He didn't try to impress them with his knowledge about anything but Christ.

He preached Jesus Christ and Him crucified. That preacher's message led my blind friend to saving faith in Christ and impacted an entire generation of people within the state of Oklahoma.

Thank you, my pastor friend, for a job well done. May your tribe increase.

The Museum of Idolatry: Let's Get It On, The Praise Song?!?

Yah know, if you attend a church that uses a hymnal and doesn't have a stage you'll never have to hear/see this song performed during a "church" service.

But if you attend Ed Young's church Sex Therapy Group then you had to endure this hymn alternative this past Sunday.

'Sexperiment:' Ed Young Suffers Eye Injury; Leaves Before 24 Hours Over
By Anugrah Kumar | Christian Post Contributor

Ed Young, founding pastor of Texas-based Fellowship Church, suffered a minor eye injury from exposure to the sun during the 24-hour bed-in with his wife, Lisa, on the church’s roof to discuss truths about sex before a live Internet audience.

Dressed warmly, Ed and Lisa Young remained under a white comforter in bed on the roof of their Grapevine megachurch, conducting bedside interviews, talking via Skype with pastors and friends about sex in marriage from God’s perspective. But the eye injury forced the couple to take a break toward the last few hours, ahead of their scheduled 6 a.m. CST ending time on Saturday.

The live streaming of the 24-hour bed-in carried on, however, with volunteers taking over in the absence of the pastor couple.

The Youngs spoke to friends and pastors, including Mac and Julie Richard from Lake Hills Church in Austin, Texas; Steven Furtick, pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, N.C.; singer and songwriter Israel Houghton; Carl and Laura Lentz from Hillsong New York City; and Mathew and Caroline Barnett from the Dream Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

The bed-in was aimed at encouraging married couples to see firsthand the power of a healthy sex life as prescribed in their new book, Sexperiment: 7 Days to Lasting Intimacy With Your Spouse.

The couple stressed that sex in marriage is not for procreation only. God created it also for recreation. They also encouraged single men and women not to experiment with sex until they are married.

But sex in marriage is pure and godly. “God thought it (sex) up, He likes it… He’s pro-sex… sex begins in heaven, and once we understand that, we discover our destiny in relationships,” Ed Young said.

The Youngs said the enemy has hijacked sex and Christians needed to reclaim it. The church, they said, should take the lead in teaching the world about the purity and purpose of sex.

Pastor Young suggested that the church’s silence on sexuality goes back to the church history. “If you look at the church history, a lot of people, even some of the church historians, messed it up because they kind of carried their own negative sexual baggage into the church, and the church has perpetuated it. The church has been silent about the topic. But God’s not silent about it.” The church should be the second best place to talk about sex after home, he added.

The pastor clarified that married couples can have a great time together despite struggles. “Lisa and I don’t have the perfect marriage and have struggles like anyone else… but we talk about that… I think you can negotiate through those difficult times, and especially when you understand what sex is all about and when you understand the beauty of it” you will have a great marriage, he said.

Singer John Lennon did a bed-in during the Vietnam War in 1969 for world peace, Lisa said, but their bed-in is for “sex peace.”

Ed Young encouraged married couples to have sex for seven straight days, promising that the “amazing results” will last far beyond the week, as the book also states.

“Tragically, culture has kicked the bed out of church and God out of the bed,” said the pastor, who has been married to Lisa for almost 30 years. “It’s time to bring God back in the bed and put the bed back in the church. That’s what this bed-in is all about.”

Sexperiment, the authors say, serves as a catalyst for people to begin a dialogue about sex and a challenge to make sex a priority in the marriage bed so couples will remain united outside the bed. The book focuses readers on biblical teachings, pointing to God’s purpose for sex in marriage – not only personal pleasure, but connection to each other and Him.

National and local radio stations as well as television channels have interviewed the couple in bed.

All the proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Fellowship Church.

Ed Young is known for using out-of-the-ordinary ways to teach his congregation. In February 2011, he literally drove a Rolls-Royce and a Ferrari onto the church stage as part of a sermon illustration to tell the congregation they are a Rolls-Royce as they are made in the image of God.

If only there could be a 24 hour "I am not like those crazy people" webcast denouncing sensationalism and promoting Jesus and personal salvation through his blood. I know it's getting old to say it, but can you imagine when these people stand before God and give account?

Rhyming pastors with stage props are so lame. His 'message' is so ambiguous as to be the spiritual equivalent of a Rorschach test. Make of it whatever you want, from "Jesus is my Savior" to "Jesus is my homeboy".

    Disgusting.
