Default Houston Unity Baptist Church in Texas: No Tax Refund= No Communion?

    NO TAX REFUND NO COMMUNION
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Mar 17, 2011 in Current Issues, Features

A large part of this online apologetics and discernment work of Apprising Ministries is cover foolish trends developing within rapidly apostatizing mainstream evanjellyfish as it continues its lust for acceptance by unregenerate mankind and his world system ruled by Satan.

Yes I know, that’s so yesterday, and apparently embarrassing to those so seduced by the man-centered semi-pelagian (at best) Church Growth Movement,

which is far more deeply rooted within largely pretending to be Protestant evangelicalism than you may even realize right now.

Now consider Pastor Accused of Denying Communion to Churchgoers Who Didn’t Give Tax Refunds in the report below:

Members of a small Baptist congregation in Texas say their pastor denied them communion after they refused to give him their tax refunds, MyFoxHouston.com reports.

Parishioners at the Houston Unity Baptist Church claim the pastor, John Goodman, asked members of his congregation to hand over their tax refunds to the church…

Goodman has admitted to denying his congregation communion but said he did so because church members overall have failed to support the church financially — like giving money toward its new parking lot. (Online source)

    Pastor John Goodman

And His Pay Per Sip Communion
    Houston Bureau - 03/19/2011

We knew it would be just a matter of time before a Pimp Preacher would start charging a fee for communion, and Houston's Unity Baptist Church Pastor has proven us right again. In an act of extreme narcissism seasoned with two teaspoons of crazy, Pastor John Goodman has boldly gone where no other Pimp Preacher has gone before.

In what could be described as a pulpit rant because members of his congregation refused to donate their entire income tax returns to the church, Pastor John Goodman refused to perform the monthly congregational communion.
That’s Right, being that members of Pastor Goodman’s church (His Church / not Christ Church - please make that distinction) refused to be monetarily controlled, the pastor decided to punish them by withholding communion during a weekly service.

As spokesperson for the Preacher Bureau of Investigations (Breaking News - Preacher Bureau of Investigations) says Pastors all across this country should speak out against this type of pastoral abuse, but the chances of that happening is not likely.

“There is a greater success rate of getting one Doctor to testify against another Doctor in a malpractice lawsuit then there is of getting Preachers and Pastors to publicly condemn one of their own for abusing the Body of Christ. Where is the outrage from Pastors who feel that there is something morally, scripturally, and doctrinally wrong with a so-called man of God refusing to perform an essential Christian ceremony such as communion simply because he could not raise the desired amount of tithes and offerings. We have now arrived at the lowest level in Christianity whereas a Preacher has succeeded in placing a $2500 value on the Blood and Body of Christ.”

    In a recent interview members spoke with FOX 26 anonymously and reported the following;

"He said for all those who are getting a tax refund, ‘How many are you are going to give it to the church’?" James said.

Pastor John Goodman said while he refused Communion, it wasn't because his members didn't donate their tax refunds to the church. It’s because they've failed to step up and do what's needed to keep the church afloat.

"I asked if there were any other members, which I know it is, that got income tax money. I ask if they would like to contribute it over here to the new parking lot."

When asked if he withheld Communion, Pastor Goodman said absolutely but it wasn’t because of the tax refund issue. He said it was because of internal issues in the church he refused to disclose.

Goodman said only 4 or 5 members in the church actually help with bills, but he called the rest of his congregation devils and demons. Pastor Goodman said he was attempting to get donations to build a new parking lot at the church.”

In refusing to perform the communion ceremony Pastor John Goodman is now in possession of something very sacred, something that does not belong to him alone; which just happens to be the symbolic Body of Christ.

The Preacher Bureau of Investigations is calling for Pastor John Goodman to step down immediately.
