Mission Statements

Hey guys I have gone through a few mission statements of churches like Mars Hill Bible Church, Rick Warren's church, and Elevation Church. Unless one is VERY VERY discernible (not sure if that's a word) an average person wouldn't tell the difference between a good conservative church as these seeker friendly, emergent churches.
So can someone help on this? Maybe we could all go through and try to notice some anomalies. Is it any wonder people are falling victim to these?

It's very easy for someone to write out a "mission statement" and make a "church" sound bible-based, Christ-oriented and sound. But that's the problem: what we see online or in print and what we see for ourselves when there are two entirely different things in many cases!!!

The best way to examine them is to listen to some of their sermons, either in person or online if they have an archive of them (as some churches do). Listen to what the pastor is preaching on the message of salvation, and see if that squares with scripture. if it doesn't, then you should steer clear of it.

Not everyone is going to agree on every single thing; some pastors might differ on the minor points. But on the major ones, if they don't believe in salvation by trusting in Christ alone, advertise works as a way to gain salvation or claim that Christ's blood isn't enough to save you, then that church is NOT for you.

I'm sure others here will have more extensive and far better points than I; that said, always compare what they say with what scripture says. A church that is truly His will square their doctrine with what the Word says each and every single time. Of that you can be sure.

many of the churches in my town that are newer

(mainly ones that area less than 10 years old or are part of denom. have the basic stuff but dont go into details on what they exactly believe on many things )

A big problem with the church scene is first that the average church-goer doesn't read thew Bible for themselves. They seem happy enough to get by letting the church leaders do all the homework while the audience enjoys the show. So when someone introduces error, the congregational audience is clueless.
