Tim Keller: “Jesus Lived like Mother Theresa”
    By admin
We’ve been telling you this man is in error. When will his readers and fans start paying attention? Here in a recent interview on MSNBC, Keller tells us that Jesus lived like Mother Theresa.

Excuse me? Was Mother Theresa the example the Messiah, the Christ followed? As if mother Theresa was the law of God? Are you still going to buy this man’s books? Do you not see what is wrong, theologically, with this man’s statement here?

Are we to believe that our Lord lived as one who kept idols in His tent…like mother theresa?? I think not. Beware Tim Keller. I know Tim probably did not mean these things, however, to draw parallels between the God-man Christ Jesus and an idolatrous sinner is a bad comparison to say the least. It does not glorify God, it does, in fact, do quite the opposite. No, Christ did not live like Mother Theresa in any way, shape or form – He lived like no other. If I have to mention it every day, I will do so. Christians, be alert!

This will be excused in so many ways by those who truly have influence in the reformed ‘sector’. That almost makes me angry. Why? Because of pride, because of fear of damaging their careers, fear of losing reputation among those who invite them to conferences and such. Where are the men who care more for truth than they do the organizations who feed them, their families, and their egos? Where are those who have influence and Christ is their only treasure?

The implications that Keller is making are theologically monumental….and wrong.

Tim Keller: The Broad Jesus For the Broad Appeal For the Broad Road of Destruction
5 Salt has a short but good article and video of Tim Keller promoting his "Kings Cross" book on MSNBC

    (complete with the mockers).

    Keller said:
...Truth bearers are not very kind. He [Jesus] brings together Mother Theresa [who is kind] and truth [Jesus is God].

.... every branch of Christianity has lost its cultural credibility
    ...why Jesus is so popular.

    Here are my thoughts:

Just how "kind" was Teresa of Calcutta?

She didn't seek healing for the suffering. That wasn't her goal. Where did the millions people throughout the world go when they gave to her charity? Did the lives improve? The facilities?

No. Theresa's "kindness" was this: suffering is good for the soul.On another note, Keller claims there is still a "Jesus Appeal", that people find Him "interesting."

WHAT? Is this man serious? His "Jesus", maybe--the one who doesn't hold to absolutes, the one seeking for social justice, the one that is in Eastern mysticism and Romanism.

THAT Jesus is appealing, sure. To the world. He doesn't tell people of their sin, His wrath against them, the reality of Hell and their earning their place there, the need to repent from their sins and foresake everything to follow HIM. No, that's what the REAL Jesus did. Yes, he wrote the book with a "broad appeal" (time mark:24).

That's because his fake Jesus is an idol, an imposter, one the world CAN embrace. The one that seeks common ground with the wicked.
    Keller's Jesus loves everybody.

But God said He hates the wicked:

Ps 5: 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; You hate all who do wrong. 6 You destroy those WHO tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful MEN the LORD abhors.

Psalm 11: 5 The LORD examines the righteous, but THE WICKED and THOSE WHO love violence His soul HATES.

6 On THE WICKED He will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot.

The Jesus of Scripture was direct, bold, and the world hated Him so much, they murdered Him. What did Jesus teach and what was the enormous crowd reaction to Him?

After feeding the 5,000 + people, He started to teach doctrine--the Gospel.

    Watch:

Joh 6:56 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

John 6:57 "As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. Joh 6:58 "This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever." Joh 6:59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum. Joh 6:60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, "This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?" Joh 6:61 But Jesus, conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, "Does this cause you to stumble?

Joh 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

John 6:64 "But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him.

John 6:65 And He was saying, "For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father."

John 6:66 As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore.

They ceased to follow Jesus. They never went back. How utterly sad. Jesus was GREAT when He was healing them and feeding them, but when He told them they were dead, unspiritual, and without life and that they needed HIM to save them, that He is the ONLY way to heaven, they couldn't bear such teaching, got up, and walked away.

Matthew 10:34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.

John 15:18 "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.

John 15:19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

He didn't seek social justice for anyone.

He came with ONE PUROSE: to save wicked sinners from their sins, as a purchase by the Master, to make new men by His hand and for His glory. So is this the Jesus of Keller? Jesus of Scripture did NOT have a "broad appeal".

2Co 11:4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.

Keller, your own words condemn you: your "broad appeal", your easily accepted Jesus is not of God at all.

Rather, you are helping masses of people on the BROAD ROAD TO DESTRUCTION. You are under God's wrath. Repent.

Mother Theresa worshiped false “New Age Jesus” « News that matters

This is a statement of Mother Theresa:
“There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God. I’ve always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic.
We believe our work should be our example to people. We have among us 475 souls – 30 families are Catholics and the rest are all Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs—all different religions. But they all come to our prayers.”
“There are so many religions and each one has its different ways of following God. I follow Christ:
    Jesus is my God,
 Jesus is my Spouse,
Jesus is my Life,
 Jesus is my only Love,
 Jesus is my All in All;
 Jesus is my Everything.”

Other notable quotes from "Mother" Teresa (12/4/89 Time , pp. 11 & 13):
    (a) "The dying, the crippled, the mentally ill , the unwanted, the unloved--they are Jesus in disguise . ... [through the] poor people I have an opportunity to be 24 hours a day with Jesus." [On another occasion, she again demonstrated her pantheistic religious philosophy: "Every AIDS victim is Jesus in a pitiful disguise; Jesus is in everyone.. ... [AIDS sufferers are] children of God [who] have been created for greater things" (1/13/86 Time ).] (b) "You must make them feel loved and wanted. They are Jesus for me." (c) "I love all religions. ... If people become better Hindus, better Muslims, better Buddhists by our acts of love, then there is something else growing there." [On another occasion, she again demonstrated her false gospel that 'there are many ways to God': "All is God--Buddists, Hindus, Christians, etc., all have access to the same God."]
It should be clear that "Mother" Teresa is anything but an Evangelical Christian. She is a self-sacrificing woman who is following a false religion. Consider some quotes from her speech at the 10/84 Worldwide Retreat for Priests:
    (a) "At the word of a priest, that little piece of bread becomes the body of Christ, the Bread of Life." (b) "Without a priest, without Jesus going with them, our sisters couldn't go anywhere." (c) "When the priest is there, then can we have our altar and our tabernacle and our Jesus. Only the priest put Jesus there for us. ... Jesus wants to go there, but we cannot bring him unless you first give him to us. This is why I love priests so much. We could never be what we are and do the things we do without you priests who first bring Jesus to us." (d) "Mary ... is our patroness and our Mother, and she is always leading us to Jesus."

The following is from an interview with a Catholic nun, "Sister" Ann, who worked in Kathmandu, Nepal, with "Mother" Teresa's organization Missionaries of Charity. The interview was conducted 11/23/84 at the Pashupati Temple.
Q: Do you believe if they die believing in Shiva or in Ram [Hindu gods] they will go to heaven? A: Yes, that is their faith. My own faith will lead me to God, ... So if they have believed in their god very strongly, if they have faith, surely they will be saved. Q: Today it does not seem that the Catholic Church is trying to convert anymore. I know that John Paul II is saying now that those of other religions are saved. You do not believe they are lost anyway, right? A: No, they are not lost. They are saved according to their faith, you know. If they believe whatever they believe, that is their salvation.

she taught, “I convert you to be a better Hindu, a better Catholic, Muslim, Jain, or Buddhist” (Mother Teresa: The Case for The Cause, p. 4)

“I love all religions but I am in love with my own. If people become better Hindus, better Muslims, better Buddhists by our acts of love, then there is something else growing there. They come closer and closer to God. When they come closer, they have to choose” (Mother Teresa: The Case for The Cause, p. 47).
"It is therefore a profound truth that Socialism is the natural enemy of religion. A Christian Socialist is in fact an anti-Socialist. Christianity is the antithesis of Socialism" - Socialism and Religion, Socialist party of Great Britain, 1911.
