Bishop Eddie Long Is Losing Members Due To Scandals

Let The Church Folk Revolution Say Amen!
    Atlanta Bureau - 03/02/2010

Bishop Eddie Long has announced that due to the down turn in the economy that he's having to layoff staff members and cut salaries at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, but sources close to the congregation say it due to a drop in attendance.

The Preacher Bureau of Investigation is reporting that all of the scandals that have plagued New Birth is finally starting to catch up to Bishop Eddie Long.
Please Tell Me You're Not Surprised?

We all knew that it was just a matter of time before the members of New Birth would start to protest with their absence. How much could one congregation take? Bishop Eddie Long parade of scandals has proven to be too much for even the most committed Pastor Groupie, as many have opted for attending services hosted by less popular Pastors.

On March 2, 2011 Fox 5 in Atlanta reported Bishop Eddie Long is laying off staff and cutting salaries of essential staff members. Bishop Eddie Long released a statement saying the cuts are due to the down turn in the economy, but sources within the congregations say attendance has bottomed due to all the scandals that have plagued New Birth Missionary Church.

According to a spokesperson from the Preacher Bureau of Investigation (PBI) who attended New Birth’s most recent service, the once filled to capacity balcony section of the church was pretty much empty!

“There is no doubt that all of the scandals have taken a toll on this once thriving congregation, there are now empty seats throughout the sanctuary. This lesson should go out to all Pastors who feel that they can exploit their members and get away with it because God knows their heart. The members of these congregations are no longer tolerating a lack of integrity in the pulpit.”

According to Dale Russell of Fox 5 in Atlanta - Bishop Eddie Long’s $1 million love offering has gone into the general operational budget for 2011.

“When Bishop Eddie Long spoke at his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in the past, his 10,000-member congregation was often packed to the rafters and financial contributions flowed freely. But church sources say attendance is down, now forcing the church to make dramatic cutbacks.

The I-Team was first to tell you how Jamal Parris and three other young men filed a sexual misconduct suit against Bishop Long and his New Birth Missionary Baptist church.

In all four of the law suits, Bishop Long denied any sexual activity.”

The announcement that Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth is making major cuts in staff comes on the heels of a donations letter

sent to the members of Crenshaw Christian Center by Frederick K. C. Price also stating that their ministry donations are down $4 million from last year’s financials.

The PBI says Pastors will try to blame the drop in donations on the economy rather than face the fact that the members are no longer willing to finance their extravagant lifestyles and purchases.

ATLANTA, Ga. - The FOX 5 I-Team has learned that Bishop Eddie Long's church is laying off employees and cutting staff salaries. Church officials blame it on the economy, while our church sources point to a drop in attendance.

Internal church records, obtained by the FOX 5 I-Team show that New Birth Missionary Baptist Church collected nearly $20 million last year with more than a million dedicated specifically for Bishop Long.

That million dollar plus collected in appreciation for Bishop Long is called a love offering.

The church says it went into the general operating fund along with another $18 million last year.

Now, the church staff is facing pay cuts.

When Bishop Eddie Long spoke at his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in the past, his 10,000-member congregation was often packed to the rafters and financial contributions flowed freely. But church sources say attendance is down, now forcing the church to make dramatic cutbacks.

The I-Team was first to tell you how Jamal Parris and three other young men filed a sexual misconduct suit against Bishop Long and his New Birth Missionary Baptist church. In all four of the law suits, Bishop Long denied any sexual activity.

Then, another scandal rocked the church when the Bishop publicly declared members of his congregation may have lost more than a $1 million to an investment advisor named Ephren Taylor, after Taylor conducted workshops at New Birth. Ephren Taylor says he's done nothing wrong and is working to resolve or refund any issues with New Birth investors.

FOX 5 I-Team sources say the scandals have lead to a drop in attendance. Now, the church has laid off two employees and instituted a pay cut for New Birth staff.

According to e-mails obtained by the I-Team, on February 18 a church leader announced a "10-percent pay cut" for the staff until further notice. The e-mail stated the cuts will show up in the "next scheduled payday" in March. Until further notice, employees will work "a four-day work week."

In response to questions from the I-Team, the church called the pay cuts a "pilot program" that has the "potential to yield many positive benefits" that was implemented due to "the downturn in the economy."

This financial bad news is in sharp contrast to what we saw in an internal church document obtained by the I-Team. The document shows New Birth Missionary Baptist Church took in more than $19 million in tithes, offering, and blessings last year.

And, the document shows that more than $1,136,000 of that money was a "love offering" or contributions from New Birth parishioners specifically earmarked for Bishop Eddie Long.

one person said it best about these 2 articles on a website I got this from:

    Bishop Eddie Long Losing Members

    quote:

Many false teacher will state that we are blessed during the recession.

The recession these not affect the believers because god is on our side. We are blessed because we practice giving tithes and offering in faith.

Why are some of those "anointing" churches are not doing well?

Why are they not giving their tithes and offering to be protected from the curse?

The truth is that they are not led by god, its led by men who knows how to get into the pocket of the poor
