The gospel of Jesus Christ causes us all to evaluate our own progress in living the many great messages He taught during his short tenure, but the great message of love and caring for each other radiates from everything He said and did.
In our community, we are fortunate to have many different religions who try to follow this example of sharing and helping others.
As a newcomer, I have been amazed at the many church buildings and the love of Christ exhibited here.
It has also impressed me that people are nonjudgmental about their neighbors of other faiths.
It seems to me that as we are striving to live Jesus’ great message of “Love One Another,” we can only strengthen our community and neighborhoods.
Today there is a need for every one of us to care about his fellow men.
This caring takes many forms, but often it requires doing something. Perhaps we can donate time or money to the food bank or volunteer to help the homeless.
For some of us, it might be shoveling snow for Widow Jones or taking the time to lend a listening ear. Anything we can do counts and certainly to the one who is helped it makes a difference.
But, interestingly, acts of service and kindness help the giver more than the receiver. Living and serving as Jesus did bring a joy and contentment that cannot be felt in any other way.
We can live fuller lives by sharing with others.
