Crosstalk Today: Christ-less Christianity on the March

Discover the new brand of Christianity. It has no Christ in it.

Churches and so-called Christian organizations are embracing a Moralastic Therapeutic Deism that busies itself with a social gospel of making the unsaved happy and healthy on their way towards hell. To these new Christ-less “Christians”, there is no hell. Historic, biblical doctrine is gone, lost in the western vat of self-esteem, self-improvement, and self-fulfillment. It’s a toxic soup, but on the package label, it still says, “Christianity.”

This edition of Crosstalk will use a couple of recent news stories to discuss this popular brand of religion and where it leads. 2pm Central. Listen at our website.

Ingrid began this Crosstalk with news of a small, evangelical Christian church in Florida that is planning a Quran burning for the upcoming 9-11 anniversary.

In response, news outlets are reporting that General David Patraeus is saying that the Quran burning will incite violence.

In spite of this pastor’s poor Christian example, where is the outrage over an American General telling a portion of the American public that they should set aside their First Amendment rights to free speech and assembly in order to placate radical Muslims?

Ingrid then moved on to a Washington Post story that dealt with the communist Chinese who went to Focus on the Family for help with the issue of moral abstinence. The only problem is, Chinese government officials insisted that there be no mention of God or Jeseus Christ, and the abstinence pledge be made to no one except the Communist Party. Focus on the Family has agreed to work with the Chinese on this Christ-less program.

Another story looked at how modern Christianity has become self-serving; a faith that an author describes as “moralistic therapeutic deism”.
