From OCRegister LAKE FOREST – Mega-church pastor Rick Warren announced on Twitter that the Jonas Brothers will make a special appearance during Saddleback Church’s Easter Service.
The April 4 event at Angel Stadium will celebrate the 22,000-member church’s 30th anniversary.

“Kari Jobe will sing at Saddleback’s Easter service at Angel Stadium (Our 30th birthday!) April 4. The Jonas Brothers too,” Warren tweeted.

“This Easter will be unlike any we’ve had at Saddleback before, as we rejoice together for one momentous service at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. We’ll have special guests, inspiring worship, and Pastor Rick will take a memorable look back at where we’ve been as a church, and most importantly, talk about the future,” the church’s Web site said.

would speak out against the seeker-driven churches all over the country like Saddleback or Granger or Willow Creek or Christ Community of Omaha

The news reports today that Rick Warren is bringing the hot boy band, the Jonas Brothers, to perform for his “Easter Service” that is expected to draw an audience of 50,000.

Reportedly, the Jonas Brothers are coming to entertain at the “Easter Service” because they are good role models. So what might the brothers sing in celebration of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the grave? Perhaps this number celebrating lust entitled “Burnin’ Up” is just the ticket.



Rick Warren is engaging in public blasphemy by holding a flesh-filled show on the day dedicated to rejoicing in the victory of the Lord Jesus Christ over sin, death and hell. Everything we have ever said about the man-centeredness of the Purpose Driven movement is embodied in this desecration and public mockery of Resurrection Day.

The Jonas Brothers, regardless of their anointing by neo-evangelicals as good role models, exemplify nothing but lust, flesh and worldliness. Scripture tells us the following:



For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be: and they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Rick Warren has put man on the altar and his followers are bowing low before their god. Rick has sown to the flesh in his ministry and is, of the flesh, reaping corruption.

FEBRUARY 3--And you thought a Jonas Brothers concert was a wholesome affair populated by screaming girls and their more somber parental chaperones. However, the fresh-faced trio's gigs apparently are filled with nudity, drug use, and other "illegal activity." Well, at least that's what a contract provided to concert photographers by the band's lawyers would lead you to believe. The agreement, a copy of which you'll find below, was presented to photographers shooting performances during the band's 2009 world tour. Along with a variety of other restrictions, Jonas Brothers Touring, LLC bars photographers from using images that "involve illegal activity" that may be "harmful or derogatory" to the band or concertgoers. We're going to assume here that possible nudity and drug use would be on the part of fans, not the virginal--or at least 2/3 pure--Jonas Brothers. (3 pages)

According to the Christian Post:

The wildly popular yet wholesome Jonas Brothers will perform for Saddleback Church next month during the Southern California megachurch’s Easter service.

Saddleback senior pastor Rick Warren announced the pop rock boy band’s upcoming performance this week in a tweet two months before his church kicks off a flurry of activities.


This year, Saddleback’s Easter service will be unlike any of its previous ones, and not just because the Jonas Brothers will be there along with Christian music artist Kari Jobe.

Besides Easter, the Lake Forest, Calif., megachurch will also be celebrating its 30th anniversary. For the occasion Saddleback has rented the Angel Stadium in Anaheim and plans to hold the service with about 50,000 people.

"This Easter will be unlike any we've had at Saddleback before, as we rejoice together for one momentous service at Angel Stadium in Anaheim,” the church states in its Easter web page. “We'll have special guests, inspiring worship, and Pastor Rick will take a memorable look back at where we've been as a church, and most importantly, talk about the future.”


We wonder if Jesus' victorious resurrection from the grave for our justification will at least get an "honorable mention" during Saddleback's "Easter" extravaganza?



With all the talk about Saddleback's past and most importantly, Saddleback's future that Rick Warren plans to deliver after the Jonas Brothers' performance we seriously doubt there will be any time left for


Pastor Rick to do more that say something like,

"Oops! I almost forgot to mention that it was awfully nice of Jesus to choose to raise from the dead on the exact same day that I started Saddleback church. Wasn't that nice of Jesus to glorify Saddleback that way? Let's give Jesus a a big round of applause for rising from the dead on the same day that Saddleback got started. Afterall, if it weren't for Jesus, Saddleback MAY not be here today."[/
