At the CT website we’re told this is,

Deepening Our Conversation with God (part 2) | Christian Bible Studies

“The second part of a classic Leadership interview with Henri Nouwen and Richard Foster.” Henri Nouwen, the late Roman Catholic mystic and priest, says:

One of the most beautiful ways for spiritual formation to take place is to let your insecurity lead you closer to the Lord.

Which Lord might that be; because Nouwen’s “spiritual formation” aka contemplative mysticism would lead him to write:

Today I personally believe that Jesus came to open the door to God’s house, all human beings can walk through that door, whether they know about Jesus or not. Today I see it as my call to help every person claim his or her way to God. (Sabbatical Journey, 51)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    -Jesus Christ, John 14:6, KJV

I do believe Jesus' words hold FAR more authority than Henri Nouwen's...

Billy Graham's the founder of this magazine, right?

I'm not trying to turn this thread into anoter BG debate, but WHY isn't Mr. Graham taking a STAND on this in his own magazine? This isn't the first time he's stayed silent when something like this gets published in here.

It's a Christianity magazine, but publishes that there are many ways to get into Heaven....I mean, how in the world can you publish something like that and call yourself a Christian?

The trick...the trick is using the magic little broad word "god' which means anything you want really.....your car car can be your god, your dog can be your god, money, sex, power, the little Madonna statuette by your bedside, your girlfriend....anything really, not to mention the Buddhas , Kali,Allah or similar junk....it is when one IDENTIFIES GOD specifically, when one says JESUS or YESHUA ,THE CHRIST,THE MESSIAH...then the music changes...because if one says let's deepen our relationship WITH HIM not through HIM then we are confronted with THE ONLY and TRUE WAY to GOD THE FATHER through JESUS THE SON in THE POWER of THE HOLY SPIRIT and then all the various idolatry crumble to pieces like the fish-god Dagon....because ONE HAS GOT TO TAKE A STAND WITH JESUS ..but of course those charlatans cannot and will not embrace THE WAY because they say is "too narrow" and in fact it is as JESUS said ...but the compromised and blind priests of Baal of our days they want to be "broadminded and politically correct"in fact they kiss each other feet and so forth....so why don't we just forget them and go back to THE HOLY BIBLE and stop?.......

Christianity Today is an Evangelical Christian periodical based in Carol Stream, Illinois. It is the flagship publication of its parent company Christianity Today International, claiming circulation figures of 145,000 and readership of 304,500.[1] The founder, Billy Graham, stated that he wanted to "plant the evangelical flag in the middle-of-the-road, taking the conservative theological position but a definite liberal approach to social problems".[2]

There is only one way I know of to gain a deepening relationship with God, and that is to stay as close to Him as you can in faithful love and obedience every day, every part of every day. As you continually and faithfully offer yourself to Him, He will daily draw you closer.
