I read the synopsis on the Khouse site...the one posted. Still seems to be referencing rewards rather than salvation, but I'll reserve judgment until I read the entire book. I would be willing to bet, though, that he is not endorsing the purgatory doctrine, but we'll see.

That's the same thing Rome teaches on purgatory (you are bannished to a dark place and eventually released)

God does not punish His own; His desire is that all His children be reestablished in holiness. The Millennium is the time the Lord will accomplish this. (We’ll speak more about this chastening in a moment.) The Bible does not say how long an individual might be in this place of restoration, but this certainly does encourage us to be wise and heed our accountability here and now. “Fruit” does matter to the Lord.

I went back and found it...what a hoot!!!! And, we might want to make this thread a sticky. Sound Bible teachers are getting harder and harder to find and we need all of the direction we can get so we avoid being deceived!

I'm still hoping there isn't any fundamental error or anything in the slightest heretical about Dr. Charles Stanley because there aren't many televangelists I can watch and I'm still searching for a church with good biblical foundational teachings. Dr. Stanley is one I had come to rely on in my admittedly stumbling walk with God. I'm pretty scripturally ignorant, am an old "new" Christian at age 54, (next month), and in a family of myself, my disabled Ma and semi-disabled brother it's pretty much up to me to be the spiritual leader. Despite my being jobless for over a year, things are otherwise going pretty well and I thank God for that.
