Default Omaha UMC "pastor" takes Matthew 2 out of context to push Universalism?

not even a full 48 hours into the new year and a known apostate church in Omaha is involved in a controversy or making controversial statements

that has to be a record for them.

    Matthew 2:1-12

All religions are not the same. Their differences are important to their followers. I say “to their followers” because I don’t believe the differences of true religions matter at all to the Divine. What do I mean by “true religions”? I would submit that all our human constructs of faith which point to the same Divine Goodness of the Cosmos share some basic core morals and values. In these common teachings, we share in Truth. When we look beyond our semantics, we will find at the heart a transcendent unity of humanity.

Often when faith traditions study other world religions, we look for the differences between them. Identifying differences can have value. However, over the next several weeks, I propose to look for the similarities between world religions that we might identify and celebrate the sacredness in each.

This week we begin as the Hearts of Wisdom Seekers embark on a journey to the Light of the World.

Well then, Ms. Florence, based on your statements it would seem Jesus really is not that important to the world as a whole. He is not the only way to the God, others can come to the Father by some other means ... as long as they are trying for the Divine Goodness of the Cosmos and sharing some basic core morals and values. Rather silly of Jesus to say otherwise, wasn't it?

you made some good points matt54

Jane Florence and the First United Methodist Church of Omaha among other churches in Omaha

I have noticed have become as of late more and more obsessed with pushing universalism and new-age stuff and a liberal social gospel

and I am troubled by this more and more often (and not just cause there are people I care about in these apostate churches)

we need to for the folks at First United Methodist Church of Omaha and the others at Connections: Helpful Links

which is 6 very liberal churches (there are dozens of apostate and or and lukewarm and liberal churches in Omaha area but these 6 are the most vocal when it comes to their false teachings and agenda)

I have friends who attend those 6 churches at the link above and I :cry for them being deceived.

I am also upset that REAL pastors here refuse to speak out against false teachers who are here in Omaha like Jane Florence

(quoting Jane Florence here, not Billiefan)

All religions are not the same. Their differences are important to their followers. I say “to their followers” because I don’t believe the differences of true religions matter at all to the Divine. What do I mean by “true religions”? I would submit that all our human constructs of faith which point to the same Divine Goodness of the Cosmos share some basic core morals and values. In these common teachings, we share in Truth. When we look beyond our semantics, we will find at the heart a transcendent unity of humanity.
All religions are the same: they require you to do something. Christianity is not a religion: all the work has been done by Christ. And "religions" do not share the same core morals and values. otherwise, explain how Muslim terrorists kill people in their "jihads". As for the truth: the Bible is explicitly clear what the truth is, and these "religions DO NOT HAVE IT:

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6, KJV)

"Divine Goodness?" Why does that sound akin to "Divine GODDESS?"

BTW: Good has a name; His name is God, and he is a JEALOUS GOD. He will not share his glory with another. As for "transcendental unity of humanity", tell that to those who murder believers in Christ simply because they will not renounce their faith in the Lord.

Often when faith traditions study other world religions, we look for the differences between them. Identifying differences can have value. However, over the next several weeks, I propose to look for the similarities between world religions that we might identify and celebrate the sacredness in each.
Look for the similarities? All other "religions" emphasize that we need to reach up to God. Christianity (the REAL christianity, not the watered-down pablum that the emergent church spews out like so much lukewarm vomit) emphasizes the completed work of Christ and that we need only accept his precious gift.

Christianity and "religions" are as different as night and day!

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:14-18, KJV)

This is more ecumenical garbage, aimed at uniting all 'faiths" under one banner: a banner that presents a "religion" that appeals to a sinful world, and stokes it's wanton lusts and desires. They wish a "god" who does not convict and accepts all, no matter what they choose to sin in.

That is NOT the God of the Bible.

"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead." (Acts 17:30-31, KJV)

This week we begin as the Hearts of Wisdom Seekers embark on a journey to the Light of the World.
    Well Jane, God says:

"Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:" (Isaiah 29:14, KJV)

You SAY you seek "The Light of the World", but are you seeking The TRUE light, as John wrote in John 1:9, or a "christ" that is of THIS world that is small enough to fit in your pocket and can be easily scheduled into you daily routine, between your coffee break and picking up your kids from soccer practice?

End point: Only those that call upon the name of Christ and believe in their hearts that he died for their sin will be saved. Anything else is s slippery, man-made slope that ends with a long plunge into the Lake of Fire. Accept no substitutes, INSIST on the original Man from Galilee. The one who was born of a virgin, who calmed the Sea of Galilee, who feed the thousands with a loaf and a few fish, who cleansed lepers, healed the sick, cured the blind, and who died in our place and rose again on the third day, and who now sits AT THE RIGHT HAND OF HE FATHER in heaven.

And take your "universalism" and kindly park in where it belongs: in the trash, along with every other lie Satan has fed humanity from day one.

    robert, great response and comments

    I BTW

    I just went on Jane Florence's so-called church's website

in addition to yoga and healing arts and promoting Eckhart Tolle (a new-ager friend of Oprah Winfrey 's)

they are doing a Celebration of Soulful Healing (a new-age event) that involves Centering Prayer and Reiki

and Crystal Bowls and Cedar Flutes and Body Prayer

and Sacred Dance and Yoga among new-age other things in the next few weeks

it is time that First UMC call their church First Unitarian Methodist Church

since they are pushing non-stop universalism and new-age stuff and seem to be no different spirtually

than the 2 official unitarian churches here in omaha

    btw:

Jane Florence and First United Methodist Church just confirmed with the ad on their site for their event later this year

that Contemplative prayer and Centering prayer is new-age teachings and has nothing to do with christianity

this puts to rest the lie some have tried to peddle

that Contemplative prayer and Centering prayer is christian at all

if a new-age church is doing a new-age event and is going to be doing it at the event.

btw: shame on any Omaha Nebraska church that promotes or supports Contemplative prayer and Centering prayer

is it me or are things moving fast towards the Apostacy?

quote-"BTW: Good has a name; His name is God, and he is a JEALOUS GOD. He will not share his glory with another. As for "transcendental unity of humanity", tell that to those who murder believers in Christ simply because they will not renounce their faith in the Lord.---Amen Robert Praise the LORD!!!! wooohoooo

to all who believe FAITH rests on the one believing and not on the one believed IN..... God the Father sent his precious SON who was beaten, bloodied, spat upon, and his beard ripped out, thorns piercing in his skull, and nailed to a cross (paying the price FOR our sins that WE deserve punishment for) so we can just choose any way to God we please??. The WRATH of God HAD to be SERVED and in order for US to be redeemend, God the Father had to pour all his wrath on His SON
And people actually "THINK" that God the Father is simply gonna turn his head and just to let us choose any way we please?? No respect for Jesus paying for our Wrongs?? tell me, how would you feel if your child is mistreated and they did nothing to deserve it? do you just overlook it? What if someone raped your child, would you just overlook it? what if someone murdered your wife or husband? would you just overlook it? I have NO respect for a universalist's god who thinks God would send His Son to be punished FOR US just so we can just ignore Him and choose our way.

What in the world do you think God the Father thinks when we just ignore what His son did for us? I would be mighty Angry. God says REPENT and believe in His Son Jesus!! Jesus said there is Only ONE WAY to the Father and it is through HIM

The Christian faith is not in the one believing but in the one believed IN--it's object that SAVES THEM- Jesus said "Whoever believes in the SON has eternal life, but whoever rejects the SON will not see life for God's wrath remains on him."-John 3:36..

the greatest faith in someone FALSE is the same as no faith at all. Sincerity and false messiahs do not bridge the chasm of sin between God and man, only the Jesus of the Bible does that.

That first You Tube video on Apostacy was so powerful that I put that on my facebook page. Putting rubber to the road. Let's see how many of my friends drop me on facebook for posting that. Man, that was powerful. God bless you all.
