Default How would you Know Beth Moore?

HOW WOULD YOU KNOW BETH MOORE?
By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on May 30, 2009 in Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism, Creationism, Devotions, Spiritual Formation

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1, NASB)

But Then How Would You Know Which Is True?

At the 2:18 mark of the commercial below Beth Moore reads the text above and then says dramatically,

“Several years ago Christ began to place a tremendous burden on my heart for the people of God to know the freedom of God.”

    Really; how would we know?

And if so, do we now have a prophetess among us with special revelation from God concerning

His “freedom” because the Word of the Lord came to Beth? And what if I as a pastor-teacher also was to say,

“A couple of years ago Jesus placed a tremendous burden on my heart for the people of God to know the freedom of God.”

    Now suppose I then went on to say that one of the best ways to embrace the freedom of God is simply to read the Bible;

to pray consciously, then do what it says in His Word

and come away from false teaching advanced by contemplative dreamers.

Avoid their spirituality of the self and do not be subject again to a yoke of [its] slavery because they teach you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds (Jeremiah 14:14). I mean, how would you know?

Around the 2:00 is what really makes me

She talks as if we need to keep asking Christ into our lives and to forgive us of our sins over and over and over again until we are "full" of the Spirit inside.

Huh? Wasn't Jesus' sacrifice once, and ONCE for all mankind's sin? His work at Calvary is done and finished. This is where Moore gets WAY lost.

Sadly, she has become one of the "scary kids", as my husband calls the apostate group.

Actually, without trying to support her overall teaching, I do not believe that what she means at that point, LNM4, is a re-crucifying of Christ. She is merely saying that we need to continually yield to God, allowing the Holy Spirit to gain more and more possession of ourselves until we are just overflowing with Him. In other words, we need to get to the point where our flesh—the old man—has withered to just a nubbin and the Spirit of Christ has full sway. This is the ongoing process of sanctification. Too many Christians just don't bother with it. They get saved (if indeed they are) and then basically live not too differently than they did before ... except they likely don't drink or cuss or look at porn any more.

But becoming that is not the result of becoming a Christian. A worldly moral person, an atheist, or a pagan, can live a moral life. Christianity is a PERSONAL relationship with Jesus Christ. And being a Christian means dying to self. A daily dying, Jesus said. A progressive process, Paul taught.

But when you begin walking that path, the liberty, the freedom, is absolutely incredible. Freedom from tension, freedom from fear, freedom from worry, freedom from uncertainty; an awesome, liberating, heart-calming freedom ... meaning we have finally fully entered into His rest ... the true Sabbath! WE have fully ceased from our own works and rest WHOLLY on Jesus and Him crucified ... knowing that ALL we need is secure in His hands. I recall that someone once asked a true man of God, "How do I get to the place of victory I need. How do I find that peace in myself?" The preacher answered, "You can't. It's not in you. It's not in me. It's only in Him. But it's ALL in Him"

Thank you for clearing this up - I'll admit I didn't quite understand what Moore was saying at the 2:00 mark, and it sounded alot like the RCC doctrine. It's making alot more sense now.
