    Default Miss You Guys and Gals

    We are still in the process of getting moved. We had hoped to have it completed by yesterday, but the weather has not been cooperative at all (finally got rain ). Obviously internet is back up, but since Duane and I are the only ones moving us across town, it's slow going. So, I hope to be settled by Thursday to where I can actually sit don and read everything I've missed, and get into the chatroom.

    Ah but moving is so much fun! A fresh start every time! My husband and I have moved 4 times since we've been married, the first move was literally the day after our wedding, and our most recent move was 2 years ago....with just us two moving a household of furniture and toys for 6 people. It's a shame people can't be relied upon for free labor (or at least a pizza)...and family wasn't an option.

    Father God, pour out your blessings on ForgivenOne's move, new home, and make Your perfect plan for this change known to her and Duane. In Jesus name, Amen.

    Praying for your move and for the Lord to give you the opportunity to rest up afterwards, amen.

    I have moved a few times when single and in the early part of my marriage. In the days when I could actually pick up heavy bags and some furniture. Too arthritic these days.

    Since being in one place for over 17 years now we have not only taken our stuff back from various relatives (stored with them) when we first moved in here but then we have added quite a bit to what we used to have. Four step-children who have left a lot of their stuff in our garage and we also inherited a few things from various relatives that have passed away over the years. Moving today is not an option! I'd rather burn the place down first. (just kidding but a tempting thought ).

    I wouldn't know how to start packing up what we have and my hubby the hoarder is not so willing to let go of things when I try to have an occassional clean out day. The ultimate clean out day will be when we go up in the Rapture (yeah and leave it all behind ).

    Thank you, everyone, so much for your prayers, and humor.

    We downsized from a 3 bedroom 1-1/2 bath home, to a 2 bedroom 1 bath home, and as we are both from previous marriages, we have 2 (possibly 3) of everything, I've discovered. I am currently sitting on the loveseat, snuggled amongst the boxes that are everywhere, and as I look around I think we might... almost but not quite... qualify for that tv show called "Hoarders: Buried Alive", at the moment; even after multiple trips to put stuff in storage that we can't part with and donating some furniture to Brother Charlie's Place, here in Nashville, GA, who supports the local Battered Women shelters.

    It is truly amazing what one acquires over the years, and I've come to the conclusion that the stuff we haven't looked at or missed over the past year is more than likely not needed. Not only that, but I realized that while these things might've brought me joy when I first got them, I spend more time doing other more important things and less time looking at them, so they've become almost invisible to me. Someone else might need them, so more donations soon I'm sure. Besides, I certainly won't be taking them to Heaven with me. Of course, that's my stuff, as the hubby thinks he needs all his stuff. I'm sure once I start setting aside things to donate, he'll join in though. Just not the tools, don't touch the tools!

    By the way, does anyone know where I put my back massager?

    That's gonna be in the second to last box you open, (because when you find it you'll be so happy that you'll open one more box, only to find that the box marked coffee pot is really a badly tangled strand of Christmas lights, and a petrified sugar cookie)...or in that box that is labeled 'hubby's stuff' but really only has one of his shirts in it (but it's a fav so that's why it was marked), that you won't open because...well...it's not your's!

    hahaha

    Update: Found it! and I have a living room, kinda sorta lol. Hubby is 'letting' me do the unpacking so that I am happy with where everything is placed. I suppose I should be happy with that.....

    Dear Lord, please give me the patience to deal with all these boxes of stuff, and the wisdom to know the difference between stuff to keep and stuff to toss, so that something doesn't 'accidentally' get tossed out the door into the junk pile.....

    {a bit of humor is always a good idea in times like this I've recently discovered}

    Sis, your comments have inspired me to get rid of some of the stuff I have collected over the years. As you said:

    "I've come to the conclusion that the stuff we haven't looked at or missed over the past year is more than likely not needed. Not only that, but I realized that while these things might've brought me joy when I first got them, I spend more time doing other more important things and less time looking at them, so they've become almost invisible to me."

    Bang on! Thanks for the inspiration.
