Default Can anyone refute this without resorting to Factcheck.org?

    Religious exemptions from Obamacare

I don't trust the government (ie Factcheck.org) to tell the truth about anything, especially something that could be so damning.

Does anyone have an independently verified source for this information? Or a refutation that has been independently verified?

    Thanks,

    God Bless,

If we can no longer trust words to be the faithful vessels to carry our thoughts to another person's mind, then our efforts to preach the true gospel become mired in a swamp of indistinct verbiage. As Paul said, "if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?" And who in the world will be able to distinguish the foe from the protectors and purveyors of the truth?

Yeah: how about the actual wording of HR 3200?

From the PDF of the bill at http://candicemiller.house.gov/pdf/hr3200.pdf :

    19 ‘‘(5) RELIGIOUS CONSCIENCE EXEMPTION.—
    20 ‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—Subsection (a) shall
21 not apply to any individual (and any qualifying
22 child residing with such individual) for any pe23
riod if such individual has in effect an exemp-
24 tion which certifies that such individual is a
25 member of a recognized religious sect or divi-
1 sion thereof described in section 1402(g)(1) and
2 an adherent of established tenets or teachings
3 of such sect or division as described in such sec4
    tion.
    5 ‘‘(B) EXEMPTION.—An application for the
6 exemption described in subparagraph (A) shall
7 be filed with the Secretary at such time and in
8 such form and manner as the Secretary may
9 prescribe. Any such exemption granted by the
10 Secretary shall be effective for such period as
    11 the Secretary determines appropriate.

From what I read here, it would have to be a tenet of your faith that forbids it. You can't just say you don't believe in it just to get out of it, or everyone who didn't want it could do so.

A tenet of your faith that forbids what, paying for health care? I think I heard somewhere that the muslims are too "religious" to pay for insurance...

I wonder how many people are going to claim being Christian Scientists in order to avoid participating in this.

Basically, the bill itself does verify the essence of what the blog said, if not the tone or vitriol.

This should NOT be forced upon us. It is very wrong to force it upon us. Health Care reform should have instead been Health Insurance reform, where the industry was taken to task and regulated more stringently. Instead, the American people are being punished by the politicians yet again.
