    Default locks

Ok friends, help me think of some kind of lock I can but on the doors to keep Chris INSIDE at night while I sleep. The thing is that they have to be some kind of locks that will let us out in case of fire. Or somekind that well let me back inside if he locks me out.

Chris has started to ramble about the house. I'm afraid he'll go outside and I won't be able to find him.

I used to sleep lightly so that I could hear him. Now I sleep so soundly (I'm worn out) Matthew has to come and shake me awake to tell me Daddy is doing this or that.

In our first house, we were concerned about the security of our doors so we fitted deadlocks. They operated with a very simple key and only had a keyhole on the inside. If you were to fit something like that and kept the key somewhere safe (possibly another problem) then once you had locked the doors you could happily go to sleep knowing that nobody could get in or out without your key.

If it would only be used at night, then you could do this and put the key where you and Matthew know where it is. Or even wear it on a chain or in a closable pocket in your pjs. Trying to think of places where Chris couldn't get it.....

Since Chris can't bend over easily, could you install a deadbolt that goes into the floor? Although you don't want him falling over trying to work it, either. hmmm

Thank you all so much. Chris seems to be going into a new phase. He rambles. He's taking the remotes apart. He's got them into a million pieces. He took apart the cell phone. It's just lying on the table waiting for someone to put it back together again. Chris is restless and that really bothers me for a variety of reasons.

Today his mother sat with him while I worked. While at the nursing home today a Hospice nurse came into the beauty shop and asked me if Chris needed anything. I thought for a minute and said yes, We'd like a wheelchair. We have an electric one that a neighbor gave us but it's too heavy to take anywhere. Long story short, we've got a wheelchair.

When I walked into the house after work I asked Chris to go with me to pick up mama at my sister's house in town. He said he thought he could go. So Matthew, Chris and I go into town. While on the way to town Chris calls his friends to announce " We are going into town."
His weak voice so excited that he is strong enough to go somewhere.

Tears burn my eyes. I ask Jesus to please hold it together for me. He does. The lump inside my throat begins to fade away.

I ask Chris if he'd like to try Ruby Tuesdays since I got paid today. He said he thought he could do it. So Mama, Matthew, Chris and I go into Ruby Tuesdays. I could tell that Chris was uncomfortable. I ask him if he'd like to leave. "No, I'll be ok." he says. We look at the choices and he picks a baked potato. My heart is breaking. My eyes begin to sting again. The lump in my throat is aching. I want to scream at all of the people........" Love each other. Let small things go. Life is so fragile. Enjoy every moment you feel good. I try not to look at my mama because if I do.........I'll loose it. So I avoid eye contact.

It's too much for him. Chris and I go outside and sit on a bench while Mama and Matthew get to go boxes.

Chris feels better and we decide to go to the book store. So off we go to Books-A-Million.
My poor little fragile husband holds my hand to cross the street. He looks so lost. He just wants to sit and look at a book while we look around. I feel so protective of him. I don't want to leave him. He insists that he'll be fine and that he won't move. I tell him that if he get afraid or if he needs me to just "call me out loud"
We don't stay but just a few minutes because we can't look around without worrying he might walk out of the store of someone might say something to hurt his feelings.

I write this because it makes me feel better. I need to get that awful feel outside of my body. My heart is breaking. I hate this. Lord help me. This is too hard.

Oh, Viva, what you are going through brings tears to my eyes. I am so sorry I can't help you, other than to read your postings and pray that God gives you the strength you need to get through this. Cling to Him - know that Chris will one day be perfect and healthy. I know you know this, and I am just preaching to the choir. You WILL get through this. 2:

2:2:2: to all of my dear friends. Today is a new day. I've had company ALL DAY. heheheh but I got dead bolt locks put on two of the doors and I'll be getting more later.

My husband's friend is here helping me with this and that. He cleaned out the gutters, changed the locks and even went to my trailer to find the dead possum that has been under the trailer with it's aromatic aroma. Couldn't find it. He thinks it's in the insulation. EWWWWWW But he said it won't hurt anything just let nature handle it. He DID say that I needed to get some charcoal to absorb some of the smell. Ugg

I've just had a chance to sit down and read a little.

Chris has had some chicken soup and some iced tea. So far so good. Everything is staying down.

About 25 years ago, when I was in high school, my dad got me this lock for my locker. It was called the Magnetron. The "key", was a magnet that was placed on the side of the lock, and it would unlock. Very quick and easy to unlock when you need it. I do not know if they sell them anymore, though. Hope this helps.
