Book of Revelations?

One source of frequent confusion in the Bible is whether the Book of Revelation is actually the Book of Revelations? I have to admit that in my early days of being a Christian I often times threw out the word "Revelations" rather than the appropriate "Revelation" wording. The Book of Revelation is the last book of the Christian Bible that provides a detailed overview of the coming seven year Tribulation period. The beginning of the Book of Revelation starts off by declaring that the book is written by the apostle John:
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John
The revelations given in the book point to the terrible judgments poured out on unbelieving Israel and unrepentant sinners on the Earth. The Book of Revelation is divided into three major sections. The visions and words given to John under the guidance of the Holy Spirit show that the Book of Revelation is divided into the things of the past, the things that are, and the things that will be which would be the future. These three major sections of the Book of Revelation are the keys to understanding the Lord's final words to mankind as the Bible was completed. It is noteworthy that John wrote the book of Revelation between 90-100AD while on the Isle of Patmos. This is the last time that the Lord spoke to provide what we commonly refer to as the Holy Bible.
But to get back to our major question, the correct answer to the question is that the book John wrote should be properly addressed as the Book of Revelation, not the Book of Revelations. The Book of Revelation is the single revelation of Jesus Christ. It is not the multiple revelations of many people. Only the biblical prophets were allowed to speak for the Lord. As John noted the revelations of the book is that of Jesus Christ and thus it is his Revelation.
Again, we will recall at the beginning of the Book of Revelation that the Bible itself declares in the first chapter and first two verses of Revelation that:
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John:
Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
