The Rapture Report - Brazil: There won't be Mideast peace as long as U.S. is 'guardian'

Brazil: There won't be Mideast peace as long as U.S. is 'guardian'

According to news reports today, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva criticized the role of the U.S. in the Middle East peace process by stating that as long as the U.S. was the "guardian" or principle party involved in mediating talks between the Israelis and Palestinians that there would be no peace. The Brazilian President called for other "countries" to be involved in the peace process. The Haaretz newspaper reports:

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Monday demanded the end of what he called U.S. "guardianship" of the Middle East. "There will not be peace in the Middle East as long as the United States is the guardian of peace. It is necessary to involve other countries in negotiations (between Israel and the Palestinians)," he said.

For Brazil's part they have been active in the past in trying to become a mediator in the Middle East peace process, but this would not be a good deal for the Israelis as the South American countries have shown recently that they are biased against Israel by recognizing a unilateral Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as the capital. The Brazilian leader also went on to defend Iran and it's nuclear ambitions by further criticizing Iranian nuclear sanctions imposed by the international community:

Brazil has long volunteered to play such a role. Earlier this month it recognized Palestine as a sovereign, independent state within its borders prior to the 1967 Six-Day War. Lula also slammed economic sanctions imposed on Iran over Tehran's controversial nuclear programme, and emphasized that they could have been avoided if the United States had accepted a deal brokered with Iran by Brazil and Turkey.

To show how biased and close Brazil is with Iran and the Islamic community, the article noted that Brazil and Turkey were the only two countries to vote against the latest UNSC resolution placing sanctions on the illegal Iranian nuclear program. With the recognition of an independent and unilateral Palestinian nation it appears that the South American countries have shown which side of the fence they are. Another interesting note is that many of these countries are "Roman Catholic" and as we all know the RCC has not been very supportive of Israel. The RCC will have a role to play in these end times.

The interesting to me about this news article is that it shows that there is a movement in the international community that shows frustration at the inability of the Obama administration to make progress on the Middle East peace process. As a result, the calls for others to step up and play a role are being heard. This to me could give rise to the European Union and eventual Antichrist to play a larger role in the future. and perhaps not very long from now. We know from Daniel and Revelation that the European Union will play a significant role in forming the coming one world government. But in order for this to be realized, the U.S. must minimized or pushed out of the way on the international stage. With the economic crisis showing now signs of improvement as unemployment remains high in the U.S. and now massive spending programs are being authorized by the Obama led Congress, it is no wonder that the time is getting ripe to see a downward spiral in U.S. influence on the international stage, especially as it concerns the Middle East peace process.

For these reasons, I believe that we need to pray and actively watch the current situation as the Middle East peace process remains stalemated and with no signs of progress being made anytime soon. In fact, recent news reports have shown that Israel is moving heavily armored tanks to the border region with Gaza. This is a sign to me that the tension is increasing. Let us continue to watch and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. the only one that can bring real and lasting peace to the region is the Lord Jesus Christ. Stay tuned!!

God bless.
