Time Running out for Peace

Over the last few days we have seen an increased amount of articles coming out showing the sorry state of affairs in the Middle East region. The articles also show an increase in desperation to solve the Middle East problems as well as the continued threat of Islam. The Middle East region is slowly but surely leading to a breaking point in which conflict will ultimately break out. The reason for this is the lack of genuine desire for peace on the side of the Islamists. The failure of genuine peace allows the Islamists to speak peace on the diplomatic fronts while secretly preparing for war on the military fronts. Eventually the buildup in arms and weapons will trigger a response by the Israelis and the result will be more conflict. This next big conflict has the potential to drag the entire region into a regional war and perhaps set in motion the prophetic fulfillment of Pslam 83, Isaiah 17, and Ezekiel 38-39.
In a recent Haaretz Newspaper article Israeli FM Livni reports that time is running out in order to reach peace with the Palestinians. The article reports:
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Thursday called for a unity coalition to pursue the creation of Palestinian state living peacefully alongside Israel, saying "time is against the moderates" looking to reach a peace agreement.
Livni is also on record stating:
"We decided that time is against us, that time is against the moderates and that stagnation is not an option for the Israeli government," she said in explaining the government's decision to hold peace talks with the moderate Palestinian leadership based in the West Bank.
It appears that Livni realizes that time is indeed not on the side of the so called "peace" process with the Palestinians. Livni has also said that attempts to rush and force a deal between the two groups could be the cause for more conflict in the region. This Haaretz Newspaper article sums up these views:
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni - the leading candidate to replace Ehud Olmert as leader of Kadima and as prime minister - on Thursday met with the foreign press in Israel and called for a national unity government that would be able to pursue the creation of Palestinian state living peacefully alongside Israel. But she also sounded a warning note, saying that a Palestinian uprising could reignite if the international community piled too much pressure on the sides to paper over differences and rush into an agreement on statehood.
Further:
Livni compared the current situation to the year 2000, when peace talks at Camp David, brokered by then-U.S. President Bill Clinton, collapsed and the second intifada erupted. "I know that there are some expectations ... to do something before the end of the year," Livni said of Washington's goal of Israel and the Palestinians reaching a statehood agreement before Bush leaves office in January. "The pressure, the international pressure, this can lead to clashes, this can lead to misunderstandings, this can lead to violence as we had, as we faced, after Camp David 2000 and the circumstances, in a way, are similar," Livni said. In her remarks, Livni played down Washington's timeline for a deal this year. "What is more important is the content and the nature of the understanding," she said.
International pressure on Israel and the Palestinains has been enormous and has not produced the effect that the international community had hoped for. One of the reasons for this is as we mentioned earlier in this report is that the Palestinians lack a true desire to reach peace with the Israelis which has resulted in the current stalemate of talks between both sides. IMHO the Palestinian demands and actions indicate that they are merely trying to get as mcuh as they can from the Israelis while making necessary military preparations for a future conflict. Israel for their credit has played the role of a true seeker of peace and has made plenty of gestures to the Palestinians in their desire to live in peace. Israel has turned over prisoners, made peaceful gestures by resuming talks with the Palestinians and Syrians, etc. In short, there is no shortage of true and genuine peaceful gestures from the Israelis but none from the Palestinians.
The Palestinians and their terrorist allies have made open statements lately about continuing to use force to try to relinquish the land given to the Israelis. In a recent YnetNews Newspaper article the Hamas terrosits group is reported to have announced:
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said Wednesday that the Islamist group will not accept any future peace agreement that does not include the return of Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley to Palestinians hands and the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes in Israel. Speaking at a ceremony marking 39 years since the fire at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem's Old City, Haniyeh said "no one can cede Jerusalem, the city from which the Prophet Muhammad ascended to the heavens. "Jerusalem will be retrieved to the Palestinians not through negotiations or by hugging and kissing the enemy, but by way of jihad, blood, shahids and resistance. With Allah's help, Jerusalem will be returned," he said.
These comments show and confirm that the Palestinians have no desire for true and lasting peace. Their only desire is to uproot Israel of the Jews and replace them with more Islamic territories. And the Hamas makes it clear in no uncertain terms that they plan on continuing with their armed resistance despite all the agreements trying to be reached by the international community. The future does not look peaceful and quiet for Israel, but God has promised the Israelis that once he brought them back into the land that he would not let them be displaced again. Israel is in the land to stay and her enemies had better get used to it.
