Israel threats to Russia

In today's news we see reports that Israel is currently telling the Russians that if they go through with the proposed sale of their S-300 anti-aircraft weapons, that Israel would use countermeasures to render the system ineffective. The Jerusalem Post article goes on to report:
If Russia goes through with the sale of its most advanced anti-aircraft missile system to Iran, Israel will use an electronic warfare device now under development to neutralize it and as a result present Russia as vulnerable to air infiltrations, a top defense official has told The Jerusalem Post.
The S-300 system is described in the article as:
The Russian system, called the S-300, is one of the most advanced multi-target anti-aircraft-missile systems in the world today and has a reported ability to track up to 100 targets simultaneously while engaging up to 12 at the same time. It has a range of about 200 kilometers and can hit targets at altitudes of 27,000 meters.
There have been mixed news reports lately that indicated that the Russians would sell and place the weapons with Iran by the end of the year. Other news reports indicate indicate that the weapons will not reach the Iranians until next year. Regardless of the timing, Israel has made it clear that they do not want the weapon to reach the Middle East region:
A top IAF officer also said this week that Israel needed to do "everything possible" to prevent the S-300 from reaching the region. "Russia will have to think real hard before delivering this system to Iran, which is possibly on the brink of conflict with either Israel or the US, since if the system is delivered, an EW [electronic warfare] system will likely be developed to neutralize it, and if that happens it would be catastrophic not only for Iran but also for Russia," the defense official said.
The above comments are in reference to the threat that Israel issued to Russia, in that they can make the S-300 units ineffective through the use of electronic warfare. The severity of the threat was also mentioned in the article. The article went on to report:
Neutralization of one of the main components of Russian air defense would be a blow to Russian national security as well as to defense exports. "No country will want to buy the system if it is proven to be ineffective," the official said. "For these reasons, Russia may not deliver it in the end to Iran."
As we can see from the comments above, Russian homeland safety will also be impacted by the development of the Israel countermeasure devices that currently under development. To me this threat is not going to go over very well with the Russians. The Russians are very proud of their weapons and are not going to just ignore these things. The Russians stand to lose alot of money as a result of the Israeli threat. I expect that this will raise tensions between Moscow and Jerusalem in the near term. The overall effects will only be known as time passes.
In other news, Condi Rice is on record in the Haaretz Newspaper for saying that in regards to the Iranian nuclear program, that the US does not hold veto power over IDF operations. The newspaper quoted Rice as saying:
"We don't say yes or no to Israeli military operations. Israel is a sovereign country," Rice said in an interview with Yahoo! News.
The article also noted that Israel carried out a large military exercise Tuesday practicing against multiple attacks from Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah. This to me is a sign that the Israelis, when coupled with their recent long range military exercises, are seriously preparing for the need to strike Iran in an effort to stop the Iranian nuclear program should diplomacy fail. As we've talked about here in the Rapture Report before, there is absolutely no signs from the Iranians that they have any intention of halting their nuclear program. As watchers of Bible prophecy, we need to keep our eyes focused on the Middle East region as things seem to point to possible conflict in the region shortly.
