Drones, Public Safety and Bible Prophecy

On a number of occasions recently, I've posted information and news stories I've found on the worldwide web dealing with the topic of military style drones being deployed to spy on unspecified targets here in the continental United States with Department of Homeland Security oversight - and not just at our nation's borders as some would naively believe.

Appearing before a recent House Committee meeting on Homeland Security, Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano indicated that some of the estimated 30,000 drones expected to be flying above our nation in upcoming years will be dedicated to providing authorities with information beneficial to the preservation of "public safety."

Public safety? Really? Is there something going on none of us know about other than DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano? Obviously. The question is what it is exactly.

One theory making rounds on the internet is the purpose of the Obama administration's massive fleet of drones is to aid the government in abolishing the Second Amendment, which gives every American the right to keep and bear arms. I'm not sure I believe that theory, but gun control is a hot topic right now and there are presently voices coming forward to say President Obama has always been in favor of stripping Americans of their Second Amendment rights.

Last week, for example, radio talk show host Laura Ingraham last week interviewed a former Obama associate who quoted President Obama as saying, "People shouldn’t be allowed to own guns."

In the interview, which is posted at Breitbart.com, Ingraham asks Lott if then Professor Obama was indicating criminals shouldn't be allowed to own guns or stating he believed no one should. Lott's response to that question leaves little doubt in my mind he suspects President Obama would disarm the American people if he believed he could do so.

But would President Obama pursue such a dangerous objective, given the likelihood doing so would result in large scale citizen uprisings at the very least? I tend to think not, but there are a growing number of voices openly suspicious of the Obama administration's long-term intentions. Some believe the Obama administration is preparing for some sort of conflict within our nation's borders of epic proportions.

Currently on the radar of freedom-loving voices making themselves heard on the worldwide web is an executive order President Obama signed on July 6, 2012. Titled "Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions," White House Executive Order 13618 is believed by some to be an authorization for the Department of Homeland Security to shut down all forms of domestic communication, including the internet, in the event of a "national emergency." Scary stuff, if true.

Big Brother today and in the prophetic future

The skies above the United States filled with drones, monitoring anything and everything the government wishes them to?

Government having the power to shut down all sources of communication between the American people during an undefined "national emergency?"

Regardless of motive, it seems our government is positioning the elements necessary to create an Orwellian environment within our borders should our leaders choose to do so. Frightening, but not unexpected if we examine current events through the lens of bible prophecy.

In bible prophecy, we're told a global government is eventually going to come into existence, the magnitude of which will be greater than presently conceivable, even in light of the disturbing information documented above.

In Revelation 13:7, we're told one man, the prophesied Antichrist to come, is going to sit at the head of this global government which bible prophecy likens to a beast in a number of Scriptures. He will possess power over "all kindreds, and tongues, and nations."

Not only will the Antichrist hold power over people from every walk of life and from nations all over the world, he will also control global commerce by requiring that "all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond" receive a "mark" in their right hand or in their foreheads. (Revelation 13:16)

What the "mark" referred to in prophecy will consist of is often the subject of debate. All we know for sure is that those who accept the Antichrist's mark will be able to buy and sell. Those who refuse it, will not.

My point in sharing all I have here is to demonstrate how frightening it can be to imagine the technological expertise our government here in the United States currently has the potential to utilize against its own people should it elect to do so - and to imagine how it could be used on a far larger scale in the future.

Technology currently in use in the skies above us here in the United States (or possibly in the near future) may make it impossible for us to walk from our living room to our bedroom without someone in government being able to see it. Literally! And, heaven forbid, should our nation's leadership ever decide to eliminate some or all of the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, they could figuratively flip a switch and disconnect every means of communication the American people have to organize anything resembling resistance or even warn one another that something unpleasant is coming.

While I am by no means suggesting I believe the government of the United States of America is about to become tyrannical, bible prophecy, as I alluded to earlier, tells us a global dictatorship is coming for all mankind at some point in the prophetic future. When the moment comes for that aspect of bible prophecy to be fulfilled, it is highly probable that advanced technologies like those spoken of in this commentary are going to play a prominent role globally, both in creating the Antichrist's new world order and in furtherance of maintaining its grip of power over the people of the world.

What once seemed near impossible to imagine becoming a reality, a global all-controlling and all-knowing dictatorial government, is becoming easier and easier to envision coming to pass, isn't it? And consider this. Should the Lord delay His coming another decade, how much more power will technology have given governments around the world to control the masses? Can we even begin to imagine?
